If you saw my recent reel, you know this little guy had other plans for his newborn session. Sleep? Not interested. Traditional poses? Negotiable. 😂
But newborn sessions are all about patience, flexibility, and a little bit of teamwork. After plenty of soothing, settling, and waiting him out, he finally drifted off and gave us this sweet, classic pose.
Proof that sometimes the most peaceful images take the most work behind the scenes.
And honestly, I think that little sleepy face was worth every minute. 💙

One thing moms tell me all the time during these photos?
"This feels awkward." 😂
And they're usually right.
I'm adjusting hair, turning shoulders, moving hands an inch this way and that, and asking them to hold their baby in ways that don't always feel natural in the moment.
But that's because I'm not posing for real life—I'm posing for the camera.
The little details that feel a bit silly while we're creating the image are often the exact things that make the final portrait look effortless and beautiful.
Trust the process, embrace the awkward, and let me worry about the details. 🤍
The result is always worth it.

Sometimes the babies who don't follow the newborn rulebook end up giving us some of our favorite images. 💙
This sweet little guy decided to make an early appearance, which meant Mom missed out on her maternity session. So instead, we focused on celebrating him with a newborn session full of special moments.
Because he was a little older than the typical newborn, we didn't get every traditional pose—and that's perfectly okay. Every baby tells their own story. While we captured a few classic setups, this image quickly became one of my favorites. It's simple, relaxed, and completely him.
Proof that newborn photos don't always have to be curled up in a basket or posed on their tummy to be beautiful. Sometimes the most perfect image is the one you never planned. 💙

Sometimes newborn photography doesn't go exactly as planned. 😅
This little guy had other ideas.
We tried the sleepy poses. He voted no.
We tried waiting. He voted no again.
We tried convincing him. Still no.
After a solid effort, I looked at Mom and Dad and said, "We pivot."
And that's one of the biggest secrets in newborn photography. Success isn't getting every pose on your shot list. Success is meeting each baby where they are and creating a beautiful gallery anyway.
Did I get the sleepy photos I originally envisioned? Nope.
Did Mom and Dad still receive an amazing gallery? Absolutely. ❤️
Because sometimes the magic happens when you stop forcing the plan and start following the baby.

Today is Megan's graduation party, and I couldn't let the day pass without saying how incredibly proud I am of her. ❤️🎓
Megan recently earned her Master's degree from the Katz School of Science & Health, and watching her reach this milestone has been so special.
I've known Megan for years as one of my daughter's closest friends, and it has truly been an honor to watch her grow into the amazing, hardworking, successful woman she is today. From the young girl running around with friends to earning a Master's degree and building her future, what an incredible journey.
Not only is she intelligent and driven, but she's also one of the kindest souls you'll ever meet. Her success is so well deserved, and I know this is only the beginning of great things to come.

They chose something a little different instead of a traditional first look… so naturally I had to name it the "First Not Look". 😂

Mandi and Shaun wanted the emotion and connection of a first look without actually seeing each other before the ceremony, so we kept them on opposite sides of the wall while they held hands and shared a quiet moment together. 🖤
Honestly? I LOVE when couples make their wedding day their own instead of feeling like they have to follow every tradition exactly. These two made the sweetest memories while still keeping the surprise for the aisle.
And yes… Mandi fully approved the name. 😂”
