This shy looking rodent is a five-toed jerboa Московский зоопарк/Moscow Zoo. This species uses its impressively long hind limbs to travel throughout its homerange, covering distances of up to three meters in a single bound. Nocturnal in nature, the jerboa burrows into the ground during the day, emerging at night to find food. Feeding mainly on seeds, insects, and succulent plants, this species does not require water sources in the wild as it obtains adequate hydration from its food.
