Another amazing strand feeding I got to witness when I visited South Carolina in July.

Strand feeding is a unique feeding behavior where dolphins corral fish near sandy shores then create a large wave to push the fish and themselves onto shore to eat the fish before returning to the water. A first time for me seeing a Mississippi Kite. ❤

Such an amazing sight. I could only tell it was not a common bird I see but had to crop in quite a bit to see a little more detail.

Regarding my latest strand feeding posts in South Carolina I was asked how far away you should be. The answer is: 45 feet from the waterline.

But sometimes the dolphins might surprise you by strand feeding closer than that.

And another series of a strand feeding in Seabrook Island, SC of the local dolphins. This taught behavior is such a joy to watch.

Again, these dolphins are not stranded or in danger. They are simply feeding this way.

I apologize if the pictures are not in order. Facebook and IG have a mind of their own when it come to that.

This is another strand feeding I got to witness when I was in South Carolina which lasts about 10 seconds before the dolphins wiggle themselves back into the water.
