#138 in 2026. The yellow flag iris is an early spring bloom in our area. It’s a perennial, aquatic, herbaceous plant which grows 2 to 3 feet tall along shores in shallow water and is considered invasive in over a dozen states.

#136 in 2026. The mud flats up on the bay side of the lower Cape May peninsula look all painterly at sunset. It’s that time of the year where we welcome the migrating red knots who arrive just as the horseshoe crabs lay their eggs and give them a feast. Nature sure does some amazing things, grateful to be witness to these wildlife migrations.

#135 in 2026. Almost a perfect mirror reflection on the wet sand. What a goofy looking bird!! Anyone know what this is? This weekend it’s New Jersey Audubon Cape May Spring Festival so lots of birders are here to join workshops, walks and learn about the birds. Always a fun time.

#134 in 2026. We never know what we will find on our beach walks. Seashells, pebbles, Cape May Diamonds or ghost crabs are the norm, but a clump of brown and beige seaweed looked kinda cool at sunset. Here’s to us finding more Ocean Treasures this season.

#133 in 2026. Found this photo among some spring shots taken back in 2024. Good Scents on Carpenters Lane is one of those shops where you can always find something wonderful. It has books, artwork, jewelry, lotions and soaps, candles and incense, lamps and mobiles plus so much more. Did I mention they have the best staff?
