‼️BIG UPDATE‼️
We heard from Dr. Collettis office this morning!
This is a huge update. We will hear back in August about an exact date for Randi’s procedure but right now we were told that we are looking at the 3rd or 4th week of October!! Randi has an up to date MRI scheduled here in August which insurance may or may not cover. We had it out with insurance a year and a half ago for her original MRI’s because rare disease is hard. Insurance likes to pick and choose what fits their criteria and unfortunately that means no matter how important it is her specialists have to jump through all kinds of hoops to make sure it gets covered. We will still be going to New York the second week of October to finalize her treatment plan with Dr. Colletti face to face before we go to Italy as well. When we spoke with Dr. Colletti on our video call he said Randi’s lesion is large which may mean two procedures for her depending on how she responds to the first. We will cross that bridge when we get there for now this means we have a few months to reach a pretty large goal. I have faith that we will end up where we need to but having faith doesn’t make it any less intimidating. Please continue to share our story to help us get to Italy. Beginning in August, every photography session booked will help support our sweet niece, Randi, as she prepares for her journey to Italy for treatment for CM-AVM syndrome.

Our 3-year-old niece, Randi, and possibly her mom, Faith (my husband’s sister), have the opportunity to travel to Italy 🇮🇹 for a life-changing surgery.

Randi and Faith both have CM-AVM, a rare genetic condition that causes abnormal blood vessel development, including enlarged capillaries and high-flow vascular connections. Without this surgery, Randi faces a difficult future with her leg.

Faith has created a page that shares Randi’s journey, explains CM-AVM, and provides updates as they prepare for this incredible opportunity.

A GoFundMe has also been set up to help cover the costs. The fundraising goal is high because, if it’s met, Faith will also be able to receive treatment while they’re in Italy.
