I never knew much about the Gila Wilderness - in fact, I was surprised to learn it is pronounced “heela” when first shed light on this blank area of my map.
5 years and 3 film projects later - the Gila has now become a part of me. It’s hard to say exactly how or point to a specific trait, and yet this landscape - the flora, the fauna and the dryness, the wind, the unrelenting wind - has a way of changing you.
The & came together to create a book that will transport you to this magical place. It was my pleasure to put together this book trailer and a forthcoming longer form conversation about the state of conservation in the Gila.
After meeting the voices behind this anthology, I am filled with hope, wonder and gratitude as so many important souls have dedicated themselves to preserving this biosphere.
