I'm sharing a few pieces I was able to get from a Carlsbad local legend of sorts. Bryan Snyder is a local artist with a great story. A story about how he changed the culture in the town of Carlsbad.
He wrote: "Along with exhibiting what I painted during each year in my studio, the streets had also become my canvas, or more appropriate, my chosen vehicle to transform the Carlsbad Village from a carefully manicured, conservative and culturally bland community to a vibrant, colorful and creative culture."
During our day wondering the streets of Carlsbad we went into a gift shop that gave us some of the story after I confessed that I was there collecting murals with my family. He was happy to share all about Bryan and his work. I was elated and recharged to go find some of Bryan's work on the streets. His work is adorable.
Sometimes I feel like I'm a little behind in my mural collecting. Bryan started his local works in 2008, 13 years before I started collecting. Bryan is also a big fan of Banksy, a muralist I've only been learning about in the last 2 years despite the fact that Banksy has been around since the 90's.....I'm really late to the party. (More on that later)
