I have such a fascination with space. Stars, planets, moons - oh my! While I don't have a lot of knowledge or background in astronomy, as we know I love science and I've always had an unexplained passion for all things celestial.
This was my first attempt at photographing stars ~ So bear with me! ;)
Last year I was so thrilled to get my first lightning shot, this year I wanted to experiment with astrophotography & star trails. Living in the city, the light pollution is too great to really enjoy the full visual night sky, let alone photograph it. I had been doing some research on camera settings, equipment & tips for capturing stars in the night sky I and decided to try it out just for fun while visiting family/friends in the mountains.
Here's the fun story - This photo was taken around 1am in the Winter, while lacking some equipment & thermal clothing, but I was determined! (I'm stubborn like that.) So I Using a not-so-steady tripod and no shutter release remote. I had to try to get the tripod to stay as still as possible while not losing the position (the camera mount was slightly broken so I had a hard time getting it to stay without drifting a bit), but that proved to be a bigger issue for the multiple shots. (All while I'm in pajamas freezing XD) This was a single 30 second exposure.
I look forward to more night skies with better equipment. :)
