I’ve been so thrilled lately seeing people take risks on themselves. Especially women and q***r people. A dear friend of mine is moving cross country for an artist job opportunity, another is back in grad school studying a passion, another is moving to NYC to follow their creative career dreams. One of my clients pictured here, Lexi, is in grad school in Ireland right now studying playwriting! Each of these amazing people following their truth, creativity, and zest for a life that is richly meaningful.
So often, we internalize the messages we are given to settle: if you’ve got anything, don’t ask for more, don’t inconvenience people with your becoming, don’t make a huge change based on hope. Believe in yourself, but not too much. Follow the script.
Hope requires courage. It is often deeply uncomfortable. It takes work. At times it is revolutionary.
It is what liberates us, individually and collectively.
We deserve hope- and while seeing others’ acts can inspire us, it up to us to nurture that spark within ourselves to fruition.
To all of my fellow big hearted, scared, determined dreamers and doers out there- may our witness of each other grow our capacity for care. May our hope for others and our hopes for ourselves uplift each other, as we are all connected. And may we act because we are living creatures, not because anything is guaranteed. There is value to movement, even as the future is uncertain.
