Twice this weekend, while I was out taking photos, I witnessed the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department jump into action. Saturday for a fire down by the Yellowstone River(first photo) and Sunday for a structure fire. Thankful for the swift action by these brave souls who volunteer their time and safety for our community!
The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department was first formed on January 24th, 1913, after the schoolhouse burnt down. The residents fought that fire best they could, but they only had buckets. The need for a fire department was obvious, and it continues to serve the community whenever that siren goes off! Thank you firefighters!

Today I decided to see just how much light I could capture within the Cartwright Tunnel in North Dakota....not much!šŸ˜‚ It's so dark in there, you cannot see your hand in front of your face. I took the photos with the longest exposure and my aperture WIDE open to allow as much light as possible, and still the photos are mostly black. During editing, I made a copy of a couple and turned the exposure all the way up to see just how bright I could get it...again, not much. Surprise! I got a tumbleweed in one of the photos. I didn't know it was there at all until we turned a flashlight on.

The Cartwright Tunnel was built in 1912–1913. It is North Dakota’s only railroad tunnel. Hand‑dug with simple tools, it stretches over a quarter mile and was originally part of a Great Northern Railway project. Today, it’s a historic walking trail connected to the Fairview Lift, which I will make a post about soon!

Took a hike in Montana’s largest state park, Makoshika. It is a stunning stretch of badlands filled with hoodoos, colorful rock formations, and real dinosaur fossils from the Hell Creek Formation. It’s rugged, scenic, and packed with prehistoric history. A cool place to visit and will do it again soon!

The Fairview Bridge was definitely worth turning around and driving back by for a couple pictures on our way to Thanksgiving dinner yesterday!! I'm not a fan of the northern winters but seeing things like this makes it a little more tolerable šŸ¤šŸ¤©šŸ„¶

A lot of aurora photos being shared! Thankful the clouds cleared out so I could capture my favorite view of them. They are cool on the horizon but they are even more spectacular when they are directly above you!

Spent some time on the Woodland Trail in Minot today. I'm not a fan of cities(or driving for 3 hours through the plains), so this little piece of forest was a nice escape!
