This year was special, I was fortunate to spend a 3 day weekend celebrating my husband’s first Father’s Day. I forgot to post until bedtime.

Happy Father’s Day to all the greatest dads. I’m so lucky to have such wonderful, strong, empathetic, creative, inspiring fathers in my life. Sorry I didn’t text any of you.

I learned something about myself
& I wish I thought like this before I got married.

I’ve always known I was a people pleaser, but I didn’t realize how much of my life I was giving away to others “happiness” I still act with compassion and always want to be conscious of others feelings, but when I am making a hard choice, I have paused and asked myself “is this hard because of the expectations I am imagining from others”
Am I painting my house because I think other people will like it, or because I want to live in a painted home?
Did I select the right person for the job because it wouldn’t hurt their feelings or because they’re most qualified?
And so on …

I wonder how much of my wedding I planned for others and how much I paused and chose for what my partner and I really wanted. Think about the hard decisions while you’re planning and step back to see if it’s hard for YOU or hard for others opinions of you, it may take the weight off your shoulders.

🌈 as we enter pride month I want to remind you that LGBTQA+ doesn’t always LOOK like what you think. Sometimes it’s “obvious” but what I love is that it’s none of our business if a person doesn’t fit the stereotype. Trans people can make a couple appear hetero, bisexual people can marry into what looks “traditional”, nonbinary people exist, and are valid members of the q***r community.

You don’t know the whole picture. You don’t know my clients sexuality, gender, or how badass of a human they are just from one social media post.

Love is…

Love is saying “I do” in front of loved ones and promising forever.
Love is watching one another build careers and rise and fall along the way.
Love is calling home on your lunch breaks.
Love is always taking the photos even if it means not being in as many.
Love is loud and love is quiet.
Love is even your coworkers knowing how important your people are to you.
Love is asking for help.
Love is leaving a legacy to be proud of in the family you built.

I didn’t know you as well as many others, but I know you gave and were given so much love in this lifetime. Thank you for trusting me to photograph your loved ones with you for “one last dance” as you put it. Thank you for always coming into the studio with a smile and forgetting something on the way out so I could laugh with you one extra time. And thanks for inspiring me to love my people as deeply as you love yours. I’ll keep them in my prayers while they navigate this next journey in life without you.

As summer break begins, and graduation season is in full swing I want to congratulate the class of 2026, I’ve had the honor of photographing many of you and you give me hope. So many of you are so driven and smart. Not everyone has it all figured out, and some of you don’t even realize that you don’t have it figured out yet. But you are a generation of hope and resilience. You survived learning in all formats but primarily post pandemic.
🎓Bonus points if you never used AI to cheat 🎓

Not sharing babies on social media is a personal choice. It’s also annoying that my boss* won’t let me share some of my best work just because it’s of a tiny human.

(* I’m self employed, therefore my own boss)

As my client, you can share every single photo I create. I’m THRILLED. But you should have the choice to consent to your photos online at all times. Some parents share every single frame, some post and some share photos followed by panic deleting at 4am when the anxiety peaks. You should always have that option.
