Rocky Mountain National Park 🏔️ Such a beautiful park to spend the day at. There are beautiful picnic areas, plenty of places to pull off and enjoy the views, and absolutely stunning mountain scenery.
Some of the most important things to remember when visiting are to stay on the paths and roads, and keep a safe distance from the wildlife.
🌿 A large part of this area is alpine tundra, which is extremely easy to harm just by walking across it. The plants are easily crushed and killed by people walking, which leaves the soil exposed to quickly blow away. There are paths to hike in some areas, and plenty of places you can pull off in your vehicle and enjoy the views without causing damage to nature, so be sure to stop at those instead if you want to walk. There is even a trail that leads right up to some rock formations that you can climb on!
🦌 We also saw some people getting super close to groups of elk (some with huge camera lenses that definitely did not need to be 20 feet away to get good photos). Elk can run up to 45 mph, you will have no chance of getting the 1/4 mile back up the road to your car if one of them decides you're too close and charges you.
Be smart at parks, keep away from wildlife, obey the signs that tell you not to walk in certain areas.
