💨 🌬 Current satellite imagery of the massive smoke plume that has taken over just about all of NY state. White is cloudtops the brown/gray coloring is the smoke plume.

🔥 💨 Latest model guidance is showing absolutely no remorse over the next few days with smoke. Surface smoke and air quality could reach levels more extreme than the 2023 summer. Visibility could drop as low as less than 1-2miles that's pretty crazy! The air quality will slowly get worse over the next day and a few more batches of smoke over the next few weeks can't be ruled out.

🔥 🥵 Wow 77⁰ at 7am is actually really impressive for our location (Warsaw NY). Overnight temps didn't even make it below 75, this didn't happen at all during the bigger Heatwave a few weeks back. Yesterday we topped out at 92⁰.

💨 Well it looks like a 2023 repeat is very much on the table coming up the next few days. With plenty of wildfires around Quebec and Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 the smoke has to go somewhere.

There are 2 ways they keep track of smoke on models, vertically integrated smoke or what is up higher in the atmosphere, and near-surface smoke which is smoke that is mixed down to the surface. Both models are depicted below. To get a ton of smoke at the surface you need air conditions that mix down to the surface bringing the smoke along, it looks like MOST will be up high in the atmosphere but this is one of those situations that is very hard to predict and will have to be monitored as time goes on.

Over the next week it is very possible air quality will not be great at times

🌌🌌 🌉 One of my favorite Letchworth State Park milkyway shots I have ever taken. I haven't been able to get out and shoot the milkyway as much as I would have liked this year so hopefully during this current new moon I can make it out and get some worthwhile pictures.

The green dots are fireflies/lightning bugs and the blue tint / glowing on the falls is from using a flashlight! For those that have been following me for some time you have likely already seen this photo, the page has grown so much recently that I will be periodically reposting some old photos that I like.

🌞 ☀️ A few photos of Warsaw Falls from separate occasions. One at a pretty decent flow, and the other at much lower flow. One of my favorite waterfalls in all of Western New York. To get similar views like this it just takes a decently challenging stream hike a mile up stony creek from the Warsaw park.

🔥 💧 🌧 A few weeks back Ciera and I had to decide on a waterfall hike in WNY on a foggy, dreary day. We decided on the "Eternal Flame" waterfall hike. It definitely surprised me how much more beautiful it was to see something like this in person rather than the countless photos I have seen. It was a bigger waterfall than I anticipated being 30-40feet on height, and since we went directly after a good rain it sure was flowing! If you look closely at the flame someone had sacrificed a dollar bill at some point 😆

We made a pit stop at Emery park on the way home too which has 3 waterfalls hidden throughout the park, I will post those another day.

🌪 JULY 10TH, 2024 - 2 years ago today

The leftover remnants of Hurricane Beryl made their way up through Western New York creating one of the best tornado environments for the state I have personally ever seen in recent memory. It's not at all surprising to me that the all time daily record for tornado warnings was set on this date, totalling a whopping 18 warning boxes.

Some of the confirmed tornados this day included the Eden, Arkport, and the Darien NY touchdowns. With all 3 having video evidence!

Anyone remember this day?

A little compilation of the Silver Lake Outlet from yesterday. Trying something a little different here so let me know your thoughts on this type of content and if I should do similar in the future! There is indta360 footage included in here too with plenty more to come.

Also thank you everyone over the last day this page has blown past 2k followers. A year ago or less I was closer to 250 and never would imagined I would even be at this point, so thank you so much everyone! :)
