I’m headed into graduation week thinking about how lucky I am to get to know so many incredible young people who are about to embark on an incredible adventure. Some are staying local, some headed off to university, and some dedicating their lives to serve in our armed forces. They all had something that made them special, and I cherish the time I got to spend with them, learning what that is. Thank you all for trusting me to capture the closing of this chapter - I am grateful beyond measure. I will post my favorite picture from each session, so they all know how special they are to me. I’ll start with this girl here. She is truly one of the sweetest girls I have ever met. She started off the session saying how she is uncomfortable in front of the camera, and by the end she owned it! She has a simple and elegant grace that can’t help but shine through. I loved being pregnant. It was probably the only time in my life where I truly felt beautiful, where I was completely comfortable in my body. I am sure, in part, it was because it was socially acceptable to let it all hang out. No more sucking in the gut, not more feeling insecure about a little extra weight. But it was more than just that. There was something comforting, know I wasn’t alone. That there was someone else with me every minute of every day. And that person was going to be one of the most important pieces of my life. I am absolutely done having babies, and I will never be pregnant again, but I have to admit there is a small part of me that is sad at the thought. I LOVE photographing maternity sessions. Especially for a first time parents. You can just feel the love and adoration, for each other, and for the little being that will become the center of their world. I am so excited for these two, and can’t wait to meet the newest addition to their family.

Siblings. As I was editing this session with the triplets, I couldn't help but think about my siblings, and how lucky I feel to have them. They all live 3000 miles away, despite my best efforts to get any/all of them to move west 🙂. My life wouldn't be as rich, and my childhood wouldn't have been as fun, without them. I absolutely love that my boys are all so close. The first thing Kevin says when he walks in the door most days is "where's David". They are truly best friends and I know in my heart they will be that way forever. And even though Daniel is so much younger, I can see the relationship evolving from feeling like he is a nuisance to actually enjoying spending time with him. And to see how fiercely loyal they all are to each other fills me with joy.

Happy Saturday! I'm not sure about anyone else, but I for one was happy to see this week come to an end!

I thought I would take a minute and give you some random facts about me. A little introduction if you will.

I prefer to drive stick shift, I like my coffee black and extra hot, and I can't leave my house without making my bed.

My house is always slightly messy (I do have 5 other people who live here that I blame completely for this 🤣), but our door is always open and we encourage people to "just stop by". If you like me, you will overlook the laundry piled up and the stack of unsorted mail on the counter.

I am from Connecticut but my husband and I moved to Arizona 20 years ago. While I have fully embraced the more laid back lifestyle of the west coast, I am hanging on to some of my more east coast traits. I may drop the "f bomb" more than I should, I have a very mild case of road rage, and I will NOT wear white pants between labor day and memorial day.

Hope you have great weekend - and don't be tempted to put on those white pants, no matter how warm it is going to get today!!

There is a conspiracy between my kids and all their grandparents to do exactly the opposite of what my husband and I say. We say "no cookies before dinner", they say "we call this an hors-d'oeuvre". We say, "they need to be in school every day", they say "today, we play hooky and will play mini golf". We say "no more pacifier for the 3 year old", they say "let it go, no kid ever went to college sucking on a pacifier".

How lucky are we, that our kids have this unshakeable ally. They have this special bond with each their grandparents that is indescribable. They tell them things they would never tell us, they go to them for advice. It is a beautiful thing to watch, the love and admiration they have for each other. I will gladly give up some parental control in order to witness such joy.

This is just one of the 6 people who my boys admire beyond words and love beyond measure.

Then and Now...I watched this sweet girl get on the bus for kindergarten, scared to let go of her mom's hand. I have been lucky enough to bear witness to her changing from that shy, timid little child, into this confident, determined, and shining star of a teenager. I can't wait to see what life has in store for you Maddie. PS - This is what makes me happy. I have friends that are more like family and I love these people like no words can describe.

For me, the hardest part of parenting is trying to protect my children from the shadows, the pain, the unpredictable. I know in my mind that is not possible, I even know it isn't the right thing to do. Our kids become stronger from facing adversity, from experiencing disappointment, from feeling heartbreak. But in my heart, I just want them to feel warm, safe, happy, forever.
