Fall always feels like an invitation to slow down just a little. 🍂

To snuggle closer. Let the kids be silly. Toss some leaves. Chase the toddler. Laugh when absolutely nothing goes according to plan.

Those are the moments I want to photograph.

I have a limited number of fall portrait openings remaining, and once they’re gone, my fall calendar will be officially full.

If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos this year, now is the time. 🤎

The more births I support, the more strongly I feel this:

Every mom deserves this level of support.

Someone who reminds her that she has a voice. Someone who knows her wishes and helps her ask questions when things feel overwhelming. Someone who stays steady when labor gets hard.

Someone who can suggest a new position, offer counterpressure, grab the cold washcloth, reassure the partner, dim the lights—or simply sit quietly beside her when that’s what she needs most.

Doula support isn’t about having a certain kind of birth.

Epidural or unmedicated. Induction or spontaneous labor. Vaginal birth or Cesarean.

It’s about helping you feel supported, informed, respected and cared for throughout YOUR birth.

And the more I do this work, the more grateful I am that families trust me to be part of such an incredibly vulnerable and beautiful day. 🌙

There are so many photographs you’ll take of your child throughout their life.

First smiles. First birthdays. First days of school. Vacations. Holidays. Graduations.

But there is only one time when they are tucked safely beneath your heart.

Only one day they take their very first breath.

Only a few fleeting weeks when they curl perfectly against your chest and somehow fit into the crook of your arm.

That’s why I love documenting the entire story—from maternity to birth to those sleepy newborn days.

These aren’t just pretty pictures.

They’re the beginning of your family’s story. 🌙

I need to talk about something I've witnessed more than once lately.

**Consent during childbirth.**

I've watched someone begin a cervical check without clearly asking first.

I've watched procedures start while they're being explained rather than giving Mom an opportunity to ask questions and make a decision.

I've even watched a well-meaning member of a care team reach over and grab a mother's breast to help with baby's first latch—without asking before touching her.

As a trauma-informed doula, this matters deeply to me.

Giving birth does not mean giving up ownership of your body.

You are allowed to ask:

🌙 Why are you recommending this?
🌙 What are the benefits and risks?
🌙 What are my alternatives?
🌙 Does this need to happen right now?
🌙 Can we have a minute to discuss it?

You can also say:

**“Please ask before touching me.”**

And you are allowed to say **yes, no, not yet, or I need more information.**

This isn't about being anti-doctor, anti-hospital, or anti-intervention. I work alongside some incredible medical professionals.

It's about remembering that the person giving birth should remain an active participant in their own care.

One of my roles as your doula is not to make decisions *for* you. It's to help make sure you remember that **you have a voice.**

Your body. Your birth. Your voice. 🌙

Sometimes I get to photograph something a little extra special. ❤️

This time, the girl in front of my camera was my own daughter.

Watching her learn to barrel race is one of those things that makes this mama’s heart equal parts proud and terrified. 😂 The speed, the dirt flying, the determination on her face, the connection between her and her horse… I LOVE getting to capture it all.

Photography has always been about more than pretty pictures for me. It’s about freezing the pieces of life we never want to forget—and these are absolutely some of those moments.

One day, she’ll look back at these and see more than herself racing around barrels. She’ll see the girl she was in this season—brave, determined, passionate, and doing something she loves.

And I’ll remember standing there behind my camera thinking, “That’s my girl.” 🥹❤️🐴

These might not be my typical maternity, newborn, senior or family photos…but they are definitely some of my favorites.

Those first newborn days are such a blur. 🤍

The sleepy stretches. Tiny toes. Snuggles on the couch. Big siblings checking out their new baby. The feeding breaks, diaper changes, and all the beautiful little moments happening in between.

That’s exactly why I love lifestyle newborn sessions.

No pressure for a perfectly sleeping baby. No need for a Pinterest-perfect home. And definitely no expectation that your toddler is going to sit still and smile on command. 😉

Just your family, your new baby, and all the connection that makes this season yours.

I shared more about what a lifestyle newborn session looks like, when to schedule one, what to wear, and why your baby definitely doesn’t have to be under two weeks old.

Some sessions stay with you long after you put the camera down. This was one of them. 🤍

Justice is beginning her senior year carrying a weight no young person should ever have to carry. Just weeks before what should have been an exciting milestone—the start of her final year of high school—Justice lost both her mother and her identical twin sister in a horrific act of violence.

When we planned her senior session, Justice knew she wanted them to be part of it.

She wore a necklace and bracelets that honor them. She held photographs of her sister. We incorporated pink roses—her sister’s favorite color.

And I think that may be what touched me most about this session. These photographs weren't only about loss. They were about love that is still very much present.

They were also about Justice.

Her strength. Her beauty. Her senior year. Her future.

There are no words adequate enough for what this young woman has endured. But there is something we can do: we can surround her with love and remind her that she does not have to walk into this next chapter alone.

Next weekend, a benefit is being held for Justice and her family. I’m including the flyers with all of the details. If you're able, please consider attending, donating, or simply sharing this post so that it reaches as many people as possible.

Justice, it was truly an honor to photograph this part of your story. I hope that when you look back at these photographs, you see not only the people you love and carry with you, but also yourself—a beautiful young woman with so much life still ahead of her. 🤍

Please see the attached flyers for information about next weekend's benefit and ways you can help.
