This Cedar Rapids branding session was pure joy—wandering the woods, laughing, and soaking in that calm river sunset. 🌿 🌅

We started with a quick chat about Teresa’s vision and found a peaceful nature spot that matched the grounded, relaxed vibe she wanted for her yoga branding photos. From exploring the forest trails to stepping out onto a quiet sandbar by the river — the session flowed naturally.

18 people, 1 dog, loud cheers, and 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒇𝒖𝒏! ✨

This extended family session was full of movement, laughter, and kids being fully themselves. The adults cheered loud behind the camera, hyping the kids up like it was game day. (This was THE best! I loved it so much!) We followed the kids’ lead, took breaks when needed, and wrapped it all up with bubbles and drinks, and one brave kid surprised us all by doing a cartwheel in front of the entire goofy family photo. Honestly, there was no better way to end it. 🫧🤸‍♀️💖

Here’s your sign to have FUN at your family session, just like this sweet family did!

We laughed, raced, told some bad dad jokes, and even busted out some dance moves - but my favorite part of this shoot was when they did a fast wardrobe change and kicked the soccer ball around. (Swipe to see more!)

Soccer has been and continues to be an important part of their lives, so when they told me their idea to play toward the end of their session, I was so excited! Because that’s what it’s all about - having an experience that feels like YOU!

Imagine this - You and your family are all dressed up for photos, when all of a sudden Mother Nature decides to rain the last 20 minutes of your shoot. What would you do?
A) Panic & stress - kindly end the shoot
B) Embrace it & PLAY in the rain

If you answered ‘B’ you’re in the right place! 😉

Honestly, this was one of my favorite parts of this shoot because this family went with the flow. Instead of stressing, they played in the puddles with the littles, laughed so much, & even danced.

My favorite was any time there was a tiny rumbling of thunder, big Sis would make a cute (startled) face 😆.

So here’s your reminder to go with the flow of what life sends your way, embrace it and smile! Heck, go be a kid again and jump in some mud puddles this afternoon. Go PLAY!

I tried to find some old photos from 2000, because I’m almost positive I pretended to take “senior photos” with a disposable camera with this old pal. Lucky for this lady, I wasn’t able to find them ... yet!! They’ve got to be hanging out in a storage tub somewhere! 🤣
Flash forward 20 years and I was able to snap some fun shots of her with her adorable little family 💓
