The mountain vistas of Snowy Range offer so much beauty throughout the year and its seasons. The full expanse is breathtaking but sometimes just a small portion, a snippet of the full view, can bring me such joyous expectation. "Precious Glimpse".

With temperatures considerably lower than the norm here on Colorado's Front Range, this image makes me hopeful for summer's approach once again. "A Veldt in the Rockies"

Each year on this day we take a moment to honor the memory of those that have served our country and post homage to those currently in that role. Internationally, Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day) is celebrated around the world and has been since the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1919. It was at that hour one year before that the armistice took effect, ending World War I and the fighting on the Western Front.

What might it be like to observe life on this planet from above? Would it be exhausting or exhilarating? Would our actions be source of pride for those watching or one of consternation? I stand on this location time and again, in every season, and marvel at the beauty of this place we call home. "From Up On High".

I would like to say that "even a nature landscape photographer can post a fun image" but to me, nature photography and the pursuit of natural beauty IS fun! Still, capturing a lion at the end of a monstrous yawn is quite a change from my norm. Is this what we look like when we awaken in the morning? Hmmmmmm... "A Silent Roar"

Once again, those ignorant moral reprobates have set up a duplicate ("dummy" leaps to mind as an appropriate term) account with my photo on it. If you have accepted a Friend request, delete it and report it as I have.

Generally, Trail Ridge Road, the byway over the top of the mountains in Rocky Mountain National Park, opens up over Memorial Day weekend. This year, the Spring storms have continued to dump snow over the highest elevations, leaving Trail Ridge Road impassable. Our section of Colorado, the Front Range, has seen hail over much of the Eastern Plains, with this instability creating the tornadoes that have laid waste to communities in the Midwest. Here's the aftermath of a storm earlier this week. "Squall Sunset".

Countless times I've mentioned how, despite my years of being transplanted around this great country, I'm still Minnesota born and raised. Long, cold nights from November 'til May. Snow that fell at Thanksgiving that didn't melt until Memorial Day. Shoveling snow for hours and pushing cars out of ditches. And then, in a blink of an eye, there was green. While I still love those cold months with their shortened days and frosty nights, this image explains to me "Why God Made Winter". So we could enjoy the aftermath!

Who hasn't had a first love? Whether it's a physical thing, like a first kiss, or something epicurean, like your first bite of a thin crust pizza, we've all placed different meanings to the concept of first love. Well, my first love (photographically) has always been B&W, or monochrome, in the vein of Ansel Adams. I also enjoy aspen trees, which produce entire forests through an amazing cloning process. Placing the two together: "MonoCloned".

Growing up in Minnesota, rain in the forecast often meant enduring several days of relentless soaking. The heavy cloud cover would persist, accompanied by misty fog or even snow. Now, residing on the Front Range of Colorado at elevation 5,000 feet, I witness the inception of those childhood storms. I can observe small storm fronts emerging over the Rockies, gradually evolving into wind and rain squalls spanning 10 to 15 miles in width. Isolated cells, these bands then transform into massive fronts as they move east and approach the borders of Kansas, Nebraska, and the Dakotas. "How it Begins"
