My Nana is ENGAGED!!
If you know me, then you know my Nana is someone I cherish very deeply.
As a granddaughter who watched my Nana navigate nearly 55 years of a long-standing marriage followed by the profound heartbreak of widowhood, I have been deeply moved by her journey.
Witnessing her navigate that storm, find the inner strength to rediscover herself, and eventually have the courage to open her heart to someone is a profound experience that I know is truly God-given. It is such a rare and immense blessing to see these two together! They are absolutely smitten with one another! Their connection is the kind of love that revitalizes two people and has them cuddled up and giggling on a porch swing at sunset. Proving that passion never fades with age; instead, it simply deepens, softens, and grows more certain of itself. The kind you can see in the way he watches her when she isn't looking, like he still can't quite believe his luck. The kind you can see in the way she laughs.. freer, lighter, like something in her has blossomed to life. It's the kind of love most people spend their whole lives praying for. The kind we're told exists only in stories.. fairytale love, the kind with soulmates and second chances and happy endings that come later than expected but arrive exactly on time.
Both at 76 years young, when she told me about David, she said something that struck me to my core: It isn't about the time; Its about the quality.
