Sandoval Fire & EMS, United EMS, and a Clinton County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to this accident on Shattuc Road south of Shattuc near Sand Ridge Road around 2:00 Wednesday afternoon, where a car ran off the road and struck an power pole.

Reportedly, the occupant was out of the vehicle and walking around upon first responders arrival.

Jefferson County First Responders, including the Jefferson FPD, Sherrif’s Office, and Linton Ambulance, responded to this accident on N. Boyd Lane, north of the Richview Road at the “S” curve, where a pickup missed the first curve and ran into the trees.

The female passenger was able to get out on her own, but the driver had to be helped from the vehicle. Both declined treatment.

Sandoval Fire responded to a report of a skid steer on fire at the salvage yard east of Route 51 on Illinois Avenue around 5:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. While in route, they were notified by Sandoval Police that two cars being salvaged were now on fire. Quick work by firefighters who were able to work on extinguishing the fire and keep it from spreading.

🚨 Hazmat Training Exercise Notification 🚨

The City of Centralia Fire Department, Centralia Fire Protection District, Sandoval Fire Protection District, and Lifestar Ambulance Service will be conducting a Hazardous Materials Training Exercise in the area.

📍 Location: 100 W. Johnson (Old Little Fuse Building)

Please note: This is only a training exercise and there is no danger to the public. You may notice emergency vehicles, personnel in hazmat suits, and other activity as part of the drill.

These exercises are critical for ensuring our teams are prepared to respond safely and effectively to hazardous materials incidents in our community.

Unfortunately, a mobile home in Sandoval was heavily damaged by fire late Thursday night on the Fourth of July, and apparently has left a family homeless.

Sandoval firefighters arrived to find the home fully involved in the center section were able to keep fire damage to that area with the rest being of the home receiving smoke, heat and water damage.

Sandoval received mutual aid from Odin and the Centralia Fire Protection District at the scene, while the Centralia Fire Department stood by at their main station in case of another call.

There were no reported injuries, although over 13 family pets succumbed to the flames and smoke.

Kell Fire Protection District firefighters, with mutual aid from multiple departments, battled two fires during the noon hour and early afternoon Tuesday, including this house fire on Myers Road south of Raccoon School and a large brush and field fire.

Neighboring departments included Salem, Centralia CIty and Centralia Fire District, Odin, Orchardville, Jefferson Fire and Mt. Vernon City.

Sandoval Fire, along with mutual aid from Odin, the Centralia Fire Protection District and Centralia City and Patoka at the scene and Huey-Ferrin-Boulder at the Sandoval fire station, battled a structure fire in a pole barn at 925 Community Beach Road during the noon hour Monday. Salem was also called but was canceled while enroute.

The owner was reportedly out of state and firefighters had to break in the main door to gain access initially.
