I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, and I’ve finally decided to make a little change with LeAnn Kay Photography. 🌿
Being a photographer, I’m trusted with so many sweet little lives. I get to capture their smiles, their personalities, the way they love on mama and daddy, and all those tiny moments their parents never want to forget.
But I’m also a mama myself.
I have two little boys of my own, and becoming a mom has made me look at the world SO differently. Especially the world we live in now. There are so many amazing things about being able to share our lives online, but unfortunately, there are also some really nasty and scary sides of the internet that I wish we didn’t even have to think about.
And the more I think about my own babies and what I’m comfortable putting out there for complete strangers to see, the more I think about the kiddos who are trusted to me too.
So moving forward, I’ve decided I’m no longer going to share identifiable photos of children publicly on my photography page or website.
That doesn’t mean I’m going to stop sharing family, maternity, newborn, or milestone sessions! There are SO many ways to show the love and emotion in a photograph without showing a child’s face. Tiny hands, little feet, hugs, silhouettes, backs of heads, cuddles with mama and daddy, and all those sweet little details that tell the story.
And this changes absolutely NOTHING about what my clients receive! I’m still capturing ALLLL those sweet smiles, silly faces, belly laughs, and personalities for you. Your private gallery is still your private gallery, and you’ll receive those memories just like you always have.
I also want to make it clear that I’m not saying parents shouldn’t share their own children. I’m a mama too, and every parent gets to decide what they’re comfortable with for their own family.
This is simply a decision I’ve made as both a mama and a photographer.
I love sharing my work, but at the end of the day, these babies are somebody’s whole entire world. If there’s an extra little step I can take to protect the children families trust me with, I’m going to take it.
I can still show the love.
I can still show the connection.
I can still tell their story.
You just might not see their sweet little faces anymore.
And honestly, with the world we live in, I’m completely okay with that. 🤎
