The Ridge Photography by Annie Banton Natural-light • Lifestyle Photographer • Central Illinois • 10+ years of experience • Specializes in children, families, and couples! Hello there!
(1)

My name is Annie Banton. I'm a 26 year-old wife to a loving and handsome husband, a mommy to a big boy & baby girl, and a capturer of all things beautiful. As a life-long Christ follower, I find it nearly impossible not to find the things and people of this world fascinating and wonderful, therefore I do my best to capture them in photographs that can be admired for years to come. I’ve enjoyed pho

tography since I was young, but took it up as a business in 2017 when I wanted a job that allowed me to stay home with my son as much as possible. A couple of online classes, lots of learning from my mistakes, and so many EXPENSIVE upgrades later, I am now a full-time Natural Light Photographer! I'm obsessed with capturing those ”Real & Raw" emotions from every session. The kind that make your heart flutter when you see them. I offer affordable packages that can be tailored to your needs so you can have unforgettable moments frozen in time, without breaking the bank. Message me today with any questions, and thank you for stopping by!

Senior Season is upon us, and you KNOW it’s my favorite time of year! 🤩📸 Check out Miss Adriana! 😍

I just came home from hospital stay #16 with Everett, and after looking over my schedule for the next month, I realized I have a few spots I can open up!

Seniors, families, headshots, couples, branding, WHATEVER. If you’ve been wanting to get in front of my camera, I’d love to work with you! 🫶🏼

I am so incredibly grateful for every person who continues to trust me with their memories while we navigate this new phase of our lives and our son’s health condition. My turnaround times are longer than I’d like, but having photography as not only an income for our family, but also a creative outlet and a little piece of *me*, has been such a massive blessing.🥹

And if we haven’t worked together yet, but you’ve been following along through everything we’ve been walking through, I’d genuinely love to meet you and make some new friends this season. ♥️

Reach out and I’ll send you pricing information and my available dates! Let’s make some magic. ✨📸

For Ezra♥️

I went into Ashley and Conner’s home on May 9th, my own miracle baby’s birthday, to take end of life photos for their miracle son Ezra, who was placed on hospice care after being diagnosed with GM1 gangliosidosis - a rare, inherited genetic disorder that affects the brain and nervous system. It happens when the body is missing an enzyme needed to break down certain fatty substances (gangliosides). Because of this, those substances build up in the cells, especially in the brain, and cause progressive damage. It is always terminal.

I had the honor of capturing a very raw and emotional season for them… one they thought would end very soon.🥺

Over the next three months, Ezra continued to decline before their eyes, but he held on tightly to his earthly body. The changes they’ve witnessed in their son are excruciating. No parent should have to watch their child change in these ways… but I watched Ashley beautifully embrace the role of caretaker in a way that is both beautiful and heartbreaking.

None of us want this title. None of us asked for this title. If given the chance, we would throw this title into the depths of the ocean… but we do it boldly for our babies who need us. We lose a piece of ourselves in making sure they are as comfortable and safe as we can make them for as long as we have them.

I am so proud of my friend for embracing her role. She could not have taken care of him any better than she did, and Ezra was able to peacefully take his last breath at home, in his clean, comfortable bed, surrounded by his family last night.

Only 3 years old…

When one medical mom loses her child, we all mourn with her. Because we may very well be her someday. This grief is heavy, but we share the weight of it together.💔

My heart is absolutely shattered this morning, learning that Ezra’s light, joy, and fighting spirit are no longer on this earth with us. I know that Jesus embraced this sweet boy’s spirit into heaven with a hug and one of His signature sweet giggles. Just seeing his smile when I was in their home left a deep imprint on my heart that will never leave. Ezra’s imprint.

Please pray for Ashley, Conner, Asher, and Kendall. Ask the Lord to help them find healing as they wait to see Ezra in paradise again.

If you’re able to give a financial gift to help with medical bills and the funeral service, please consider giving using their GoFundMe, or other options:

Posting from Hospitalization # 15 for our brave zebra boy. He caught a brutal stomach bug that knocked him for a loop, but he's already SO improved! Hoping to go home tonight or tomorrow.

This is a lengthy one, friends lol. Here we go!

First, the photography update:
My hard drive decided to quit on me. Very cool. 🥲Thankfully, all of our images are safe, but the backup process has taken much longer than expected. I'm hoping to be back to editing today or tomorrow, and my plan is to get a BUNCH of previews posted and galleries sent out over the next several days!
Lately, my workflow has looked a little different. When I have a babysitter, I spend that time editing as much as humanly possible. Then, in the little pockets of time between caring for my own kids, I send galleries, answer messages, and post previews when I can. Some sessions get a few previews, some are sent privately, and sometimes I simply finish the entire gallery and deliver it all at once. Social media has had to take a back seat for a while, and I truly appreciate your patience and grace.

Everett update:
Overall, he's actually been fairly stable since April, outside of fighting a nasty cold this past weekend. Our newest hurdle is that he has been vomiting every single day, sometimes multiple times a day, for over a month.🥺

During his liver transplant evaluation, doctors discovered what they believe is a foregut duplication cyst, which is a rare congenital cyst located next to his esophagus. The hope is that it's pressing on nearby structures and causing the constant vomiting because, if that's the case, removing it could solve the problem. If it isn't the cause, we're worried this could instead be a progression of his metabolic disorder.
We were supposed to be at St. Louis Children's Hospital today for a sedated MRI and surgery consultation, but because of his cold symptoms, the anesthesiologists weren't comfortable proceeding. As frustrating as that has been, we completely understand why. Unfortunately, they couldn't get him rescheduled anytime soon, so we're now working with OSF Children's Hospital to hopefully get him in sooner and finally get some answers.

To help people understand what our days really look like, every time Everett throws up, I have to measure exactly how much formula he lost and make a replacement batch to account for every ounce. His formula is literally medicine to his body... Every ingredient is weighed to the gram and precisely calculated for his body. There is no room for guessing or taking shortcuts. It's a level of constant vigilance that's hard to explain until you live it, and after a month of daily vomiting, we're simply exhausted.😮‍💨

As for the liver transplant, he was approved!
The honest truth is that Gideon and I haven't found complete peace about listing him just yet. A liver transplant isn't a cure for his disease. It can dramatically improve his quality of life, but it also comes with significant risks and a lifetime of unknowns. Right now, we're taking the time to address the other medical concerns in front of us before making that decision. We'd be so grateful if you would continue praying for wisdom, peace, and clear direction.

Life looks a lot different than it did even a year ago. Like any family navigating a major life change, we're still finding our rhythm. Between being a full time medical caregiver, raising three wonderful kiddos, loving my husband well, running the photography business I've poured my heart into for the past 10 years, and building our passion project, Everett's Place Play Café, I've had to learn that some seasons simply require a different pace.🥹

I want you to know that I'm incredibly grateful you've chosen me to capture your memories. Your patience, your encouragement, and the grace you've extended to our family have meant more than I can put into words. I'm working hard to find a routine that allows me to care well for my family while continuing to serve yours with the same heart, creativity, and quality you've always known from me. Thank you for sticking with me through this season. I truly have the best clients, and I will never take your support for granted. ❤️

Since I don't access to share YOUR images, I will share the family session we had with Bethany Hellman Photography recently. When I told her I wanted to get images showing our love for Everett and marking this moment in time (pre transplant with just his tube and port scars), she NAILED IT. 😭 Couldn't be more thankful to my good friend for these images. 🥹
