In early 2024, I had the idea to start a podcast. I was in the middle of reimagining my business when the idea started to percolate, but I focused on making the business changes first.
For Christmas, I bought myself the necessary equipment to begin my podcasting journey... which immediately stalled.
For weeks, I would walk by all that new equipment, just sitting there in the boxes, unopened. I didn’t understand why I wasn’t interested in touching any of it.
I was the kid who would carefully open my presents before Christmas, when my parents would leave me alone at the house. My cousin taught me that trick!
So why was I just staring at unopened boxes for almost two months? I was not interested, and I didn’t understand why.
Then one morning, I woke up, looked at the boxes, and I heard it. The voice whispered in my head, “Who do you think you are starting a podcast?!?”
There she was! The fear, hiding in the corner, hoping I wouldn’t recognize her.
It’s funny how sneaky fear can be while it quietly holds you back. Fear doesn’t usually feel or look like fear. It can show up as logic, timing, and responsibility. She quietly holds you back while you think you’re just being practical.
The moment I recognized her? I tore open every single box and got started.
When I speak to audiences, I expose how fear quietly keeps people stuck and show them how to recognize it, challenge it, and take action now instead of waiting for the “right” moment.
That’s exactly what YOU ARE HERE is built around — real conversations about life’s hardest disruptions and the courage it takes to keep going.
