FNIK O/T: The 1971 Northwest Cabarrus Trojans: Coming off a 7-3 season in 1970 and a share of the RRC Championship with Central Cabarrus, Second year Head Coach Arden Ray's Trojans looked to claim the RRC Championship outright in 1971. The Trojans began the season as the odds on favorite to claim the title returning many key players off the 1970 Roster.

After a season opening 0-0 tie with the Little Wonders in K-Town, the 1971 Northwest Cabarrus Trojans rattled off seven consecutive RRC wins before shocking 3-0 non conference loss to the Concord Spiders at Trojan Stadium.

A week ten 24-14 victory over Parkwood clinched the 1971 RRC Championship for the Trojans, their first outright Conference Championship for the program. A first round 26-17 loss to Eastern Alamance derailed the Trojans hopes of grander things. The Trojans would finish the year at 8-2-1
