Hi!!!

I knew I’d been neglecting ig, but just saw it’s been since January that I’ve shared anything 🙈 I’m still here, shooting my little heart out.

In April, I teamed up with one of my favorite clients, , and had my boo .benefield model for us, using our very own micofarm .nc as our backdrop. I’ll take any excuse to hang with and boss Tre around. (But really, we’ll still die on the hill that they have the best garden hoses in all the land)

We’ve been (Tre has been) very busy scaling up the farm, and we’re very excited to share more of it with you all soon!Follow along at .nc!

And thank you, truly, for spreading the word and keeping me in mind, even when I disappear. 🫶🏼

Dominique and Kalmon’s niece was at our house a few weeks ago with “Baby Kenzo” on her hip the whole time. I’ve never seen someone so small pop their hip so far, but I think the hip pop correlates with how ready she is. He is already so loved 🥰

As part of an intense resiliency-building exercise, I drove to the mountains and asked my best friend’s parents to show affection towards each other in front of my camera.

I can honestly say that I came out the other side a stronger person. ☠️

Cait and I are self-admitted beige millennials, but she was such a great client who worked with me to step outside her comfort zone a bit on outfits. I send every client a couple of style guides and offer (plead) to help plan outfits because they can make the photos look so much more polished.

You can see how the outfits coordinate, but nobody blends in with one another. They still look like themselves, just a slightly more curated version, which is really what my clients are paying me for!

Maya told + .stokes that our session was “excellent” before a single image was edited, so I hope I made her proud! 😅

This was my first client session in our backyard and the last one before we have our chicken coop! 🐣 (actual chickens won’t be here until Spring) Until then, we’ll be soaking in the last blooms before frost and staying obsessed with the Stokes family.

Why does my bio say that I’m a sustainable photographer?

🌿 I try my best to lead a zero waste lifestyle and it naturally bleeds into my work as a photographer. It’s also something I look for as a customer, so I am helping my people find me a little easier!

Here’s what that looks like:

📸 I only buy what I need, buy second hand, and fix or sell my gear when I’m done with it.
🔋I use rechargeable batteries and opted into wind power through my utility company when it was offered. Now I’m saving for solar panels.
🌳 I plant trees through my internet searches with
👗 I save my daughter’s clothes for a client closet when she outgrows them. I’ve sourced most of them second hand to begin with.
🌺 When you see my daughter with flowers 👆🏼 the blooms came from our garden!

I took these photos in OK almost 2 years to the day after moving away 🥹 I only opened my schedule for one session while I was in town and made my photography dreams come true! It’s been really fun to change things up lately.

Also, I’m not sure if my favorite thing about Ford (big brother) is the fact that his normal speaking tone is at a yelling volume and when Kelli tells him to whisper, he lowers it to a conversational volume…or the fact that he cycles through random names if he’s not sure what someone’s name is. He’s the best. The Oakeys are the best.

PSA: You don’t have to go full glam for family photos if that’s not what you want to do! You literally don’t have to do it. Invite me to tag along while you’re out there living life and get authentic photos of your family to put on your walls.

The girl who made me an aunt is somehow a senior in high school 😭 Lucky to be back in NC so my daughter can tell her what to do like she did to me 😜

Note my shot today vs. my shot 15 years ago when I had a “nice camera” but hadn’t learned how to use it yet.
