📸 “Cotton Candy Dreams”, was an editorial we created in 2001 for Seen Uptown Magazine. We were inspired by Carowinds energy to create mood through the capture of movement, pattern play, and color. 🍭
1.) This frame is the namesake of the entire series. We wanted to lean into that quintessential “Sugar Rush” palette—pitting the electric, satin sheen of Lindsay’s coral gown against a literal cloud of pastel blue cotton candy. The vibrant, neon glow of the Juke Box Diner in the background adds that mid-century Americana flair, while the towering wooden lattice of the Hurler provides a neutral, industrial texture that makes the colors truly sing. It’s sweet, saturated, and pure editorial magic.
2.) There is a playful, monochromatic magic in this frame. We leaned heavily into the “Cotton Candy” theme by nesting Gemma’s soft lavender-pink gown within a sea of oversized plush prizes. The way the vibrant pink of the pigs’ snouts pulls from the dress’s palette creates a visual echo that feels both whimsical and high-fashion. It’s a literal immersion into the dream—where the soft textures of the midway prizes become a lush, editorial backdrop.
3.) This look was a masterclass in pattern mixing—layering structured, nautical stripes against the soft, repetitive rhythm of polka dots. Standing against the massive, curved geometry of the parks faux lighthouse, the outfit’s textures really come to life. We loved how the vibrant pop of Lindsay’s red heels acted as the ultimate exclamation point, pulling the eye through the frame and grounding the whimsical, dreamlike energy we were chasing throughout the entire series
