❤ Never before posted newborn Christmas photo shoot with adorable baby Jovi! ❤

Newborn photo shoots are definitely the most challenging of all the photo shoots I've ever done. You can't reason with or bribe a newborn baby with candy like you can with a toddler or older child. (And I've done ALOT of candy bribing, believe me!😂) You're totally dependent on how the baby feels at that moment. Often times waiting between multiple feedings for the baby to finally fall asleep or calm down. But it is so rewarding and refreshing to get beautiful shots of a precious little brand new life.

🔥Throw back to Maddie's epic Ms. Earth North Carolina photo shoot at Belmont Abbey College!🔥

This was an interesting shot because the front flash didn't fire, just the sides and back. Because I was using high speed sync and shooting at an ultra high shutter speed it made it look like nighttime! A happy accident😄 that produced one of my favorite shots.

If I had to choose my "All Time Favorite" photo I've ever taken, this would be it! Kailyn and Christopher's 2019 back to school photo with them reading Dr. Suess' "Oh The Places You'll Go!".

Believe it or not, this was taken right across the street from our house in the most average of spots- a small wooded area between the two entry and exit roads in our neighborhood. It shows how controlling the light with 4 high-powered flashes can take a location from boring and normal to magical and fairy like! I actually spent over an hour adjusting the flashes and composition before even bringing out the kids- but it was so worth it! Love these cuties ❤❤❤!!!

This portrait of Ava from a photoshoot we did with family and her grandparents is one of my favorite shots of all time- the flash lighting was perfect and makes her pop off of the grey/monochrome background. We only did one shot of her in between family portraits so we were so lucky that the lighting and composure worked in one try! It exudes Young Woman Confidence! 🔥❤💯

I love how the orange/red of the bricks compliments Matt's fiery orange hair! And the shadow on the brick is 🔥too. When you can control the light with multiple high-powered flashes you can get effects like this. It's a LOT of work to get it right, but when you do it's magical!!! ❤🔥

Hello old friends! Well...I haven't posted anything in "quite a while" because life got pretty busy and photography had to take a backseat. But I have been wanting to get back into portrait photography because I LOVE it and I've had a lot of people encourage me to restart as well. And what better time to start than now- since I'm stuck in bed for a week or two following hip surgery Tuesday. 😄

So, while I can't take any photos right now, I can start posting from some of the photoshoots I have done over the last few years. My favorite is my sister Jacki's maternity photoshoot from February of 2023. It was so fun to shoot in our own little historic downtown of Waxhaw NC! I'll be posting several shots of Jacki and Matt over the next few days...

This shot is in front of the Indigo Pearl store in Waxhaw. We used several flashes including one on the bench behind Jacki and Matt and one in window to make the beautiful blue trim pop out and make the glass "glassy". Mission Accomplished!!!
