Photography Educator I’m Ashley, and I am a 26 year old photographer currently serving the Charlotte, NC area. My photography journey started off with modeling for several years, so I have a unique skillset both behind and in front of the camera. My modeling experience allows me to help my clients let go and get comfortable posing during our sessions. I aim to capture images that translate a feeling of nostalgia each time a client looks back at their gallery. I specialize in senior portraits, influencer, and brand photography; however, if you need a picture for any reason, I can take it! I also have a senior influencer team where we partake in styled model shoots throughout the year.

POV: it’s Christmas morning in 1997 and all the presents have already been unwrapped. 📼🎄

Wrapping paper is covering the floor, bows and boxes are everywhere, the train set has already been put together, and the living room looks like the perfectly chaotic aftermath of Christmas morning.

That’s exactly what I wanted my 90s Christmas Mini Sessions to feel like. Not a perfectly styled Christmas set, but the Christmas we actually remember.

Colorful lights, toys everywhere, old-school holiday decor and photos that feel like they were pulled straight from the family album you grew up flipping through.

A little grainy, a little cheesy, a little chaotic and VERY nostalgic. ✨

Come make some photos your kids will look back on 20 years from now and say, “Why did you dress me like that?” 😂

There’s something really magical about choosing to do your wedding day a little differently. 🤍

Elopements and intimate weddings give you the freedom to be incredibly intentional with your time. You can explore somewhere beautiful, slow down, change locations, stop for food, watch the sunset, adventure together, or simply spend more of the day actually with the person you’re marrying.

Instead of feeling like you’re moving from one scheduled moment to the next, the whole day can become an experience.

And I love a big, traditional wedding too. A packed dance floor, everyone you love in one place, all the traditions — there’s a magic to that that you can’t recreate either.

I don’t think one is better than the other. I think the best wedding is the one that actually feels like you.

One thing I’ll always encourage my couples to do: never choose your wedding day based on what will make everyone else happy. Don’t have a big wedding because you feel like you’re supposed to. Don’t elope because it’s trendy. Don’t include traditions you don’t care about just because someone else expects them.

You get one wedding day. Do what you actually want to do with it.

Whether that means 150 people cheering as you walk back down the aisle or the two of you exchanging vows on the side of a mountain, choose the version you’ll look back on and think, yeah, that was so us. 🤍

And if that happens to involve hopping in a car, picking a point on the map, and turning your wedding day into an adventure… I’m very much down for that. 🏔️

If you’re coming into a family session hoping your kids will stand still, smile on command, and cooperate the whole time…

I’m just going to gently reset that expectation right now.

That’s not where the good photos come from anyway.

If you want your session to feel easy (and your photos to actually feel like your family), here’s what helps:

Match your kids’ energy instead of trying to control it.
If they’re playful, we lean into that. If they’re shy, we slow things down. Forcing it almost always backfires.

Let go of the idea that everything needs to go perfectly.
Some of my favorite images come from the “in between” moments—when things are a little messy, a little chaotic, and very real.

Encourage movement.
Walk, swing them, tickle them, explore. Standing still and saying “smile” is the fastest way to make everyone uncomfortable.

Give yourself buffer time.
Getting there early makes a huge difference. You’ll feel calmer, your kids will feel it, and we won’t be rushing into anything.

And please don’t stress about behavior.
I don’t expect your kids to be perfect. I just need them to be themselves.

At the end of the day, you’re not going to love these photos because everyone was perfectly posed.

You’re going to love them because they feel like your life right now, that’s the part worth remembering. ❤️

Some engagement sessions feel less like “taking photos” and more like getting to disappear into a little adventure together for a few hours.

Kaitlyn and Joel were exactly that kind of session. The kind where nobody is overly worried about posing perfectly, where we can chase good light, climb fences, follow horses into fields, try weird creative ideas on a whim, and somehow end up making magic because everyone is simply present in the moment.

Those are always my favorite kinds of sessions.

I think the best photos happen when people are willing to play a little. To move around. To trust the process. To lean into the unexpected moments instead of trying to control every second of them. Sometimes that means windblown hair, dusty boots, laughing through chaos… and sometimes it means me standing way too close to large animals risking getting trampled for the shot. Worth it every time honestly.

There was something about this evening that felt straight out of an old film, wild, laid back in the best way. The kind of love that feels effortless to photograph because it already carries so much warmth on its own.

Kaitlyn and Joel, thank you for fully embracing the experience and trusting me creatively. I already know your wedding day is going to be such a good one, and I genuinely cannot wait to document it all.

P.S. go check your email for the full gallery you two 😍

Most people think good engagement photos come from being “photogenic.”

They don’t.

They come from how you approach the session.

If you want photos that actually feel like you, here’s what I always tell my couples:

Pick a place that makes sense for your relationship.
If you’d never hike in real life, don’t pick a mountain just because it looks cool. Go somewhere that feels like you.

Have something to do.
Walking, grabbing coffee, exploring, bringing your dog, anything that gives your hands and your energy somewhere to go. Standing still is when things start to feel awkward.

Wear something you don’t have to think about.
If you’re constantly adjusting it, pulling at it, or worried about it… it’s going to show.

Give it a minute to warm up.
The first part always feels a little stiff, and that’s completely normal. The best moments happen once you forget the camera’s there.

And honestly—just focus on each other.
You don’t need to “do” anything. You just need to be present together.

Because when you look back on these, you’re not going to care if everything looked perfect.

You’re going to care that it felt like you.

Ask any of the my couples, they’ll attest to this!
