Q&A Monday!

I'm answering some common questions that come up regarding a photography session. 📷📝
I love curious questions (asking them and answering!) and I want to remove any barriers to booking a session by answering questions that may seem obvious, but are worth addressing for those who are pondering these very things.

Anniversary couples discount for February is on now!
Any love birds that got hitched in the month of love? Want to incorporate hearts, reds, pinks, and other soft beautiful elements into your shoot? I'm a big fan of documenting your marriage! 👩🏼‍❤️‍👨🏽

I've posted before about how I've taken, printed, and framed a photo of my husband and I each year to document our anniversary and it's a wonderful thing to look forward to and have those photos look back on.
Need an excuse to take photos with your spouse? Here it is!

For January, even though it's chilly, you can still bundle up nice and cozy and we can snap pics at a coffee shop with some hot cocoa and marshmallows. Maybe the steam fogs up your glasses and it makes the two of you laugh and you have that moment and the smiles that break out, the smiles that only happen with them, frozen forever.

My thoughts, my process. 🖤🤍 I've also been watching a lot of classic black and white films lately and there's just a certain magic to the monochrome palette that emphasizes the characters and the narrative. Just watched Anatomy of a Murder starring James Stewart last night! Classic movie lovers sound off below!

Golden hour literally radiating out of these pics 🌄

The vibe we were going for was soft/hazy/almost glowing look. Used my handy dandy pantyhose over my lens to help with the haziness and voila!

Golden hour with Aurora ✨🌞

I had passed by this dance studio on my way home from work so many times and knew the concrete pattern wall with the arches had potential for some beautiful images. All I needed was a stellar subject and…here she is!

There are so many pieces that have to fit together to create images like these and I was blessed to also have Aurora fully understand the assignment with her fit and her poise and absolutely nailing it with the posing. 💛

When catching up and coffee turns into a photoshoot. ☕

My beautiful friend Augusta and I got together to chat and capture some lovely shots in the courtyard of a coffee shop. One thing I love about taking portraits is that I get to capture little moments that give a glimpse of who a person is. Augusta has such a warm, tender heart and taking a photo of her literally stopping to smell the flowers or looking up at some birds hopping through the trees, reveals that small part of who she is: curious, kind, and thoughtful. 🩷

Storytelling through photos is capturing a moment, the subject, and the context in which they both reside. So much can be said and that’s what’s so exciting!

Main character energy: main character mane. “keep fluffin' that hair!” 💃🏻

Only having photographed the absolutely delightful Yesi this one time right before moving away is a LITERAL CRIME. 😭 A colorful location, a lovely subject, and a well caffeinated photographer came together to create these fun images, fun portraits that exude confidence and femininity.

I love working with people who are down to try things, don’t take themselves too seriously, and want to have fun taking pictures. Looking back on this shoot, fun was definitely had and I’d do it a million times over again.

🎙️Hello there! Time for a reintroduction and update!

✳️Back in May, after a plane, POD, and spending a pretty penny, my kitty Luna, my husband Peter, and I moved from the Land of Enchantment to the East Coast Queen City!

✳️For you long time listeners, thanks for sticking with me, I love you dearly!
For any newbies, hi! I’m Rachael and I am the owner, artist, and overall nerd behind Rachael U Photography! I am settling in amongst the greenery here in the Charlotte/Lake Norman area in North Carolina soaking in every rainstorm and trying to find my go-to thrift store. 👗

✳️I’m here to photograph people (aka YOU); capturing poignant portraits, being a fly on the wall shooting an event, or helping you give a visual voice and branding to your business. I love an authentic, casual, emotive feel to my photos and love collaborating together with those I photograph to create awesome images. I have a few sessions I’ll be sharing soon that I did right before I moved so stay tuned!

Ahoy, there, I have some news: I'm moving to North Carolina in May! I'd love to take some time in April to build up my portfolio and create narrative, soft, emotive images to take advantage of the warmer spring weather!

I'd love to have some beautiful people model and help me create these type of images - you'll get a lovely set of photos in return (5-10+) and much gratitude from me! I made a schedule with 10 dates I have available (in between packing and cat travel training).
