This super cool human came to me hoping for a bo***ir shoot, but expressed that she didn’t want to be the sole focus of them. That she doesn’t feel like a super fem girly girl all the time and wanted something different. She’d seen images of bodies photoshopped into images of other things like animals and was curious if we could do something like that.

I sat with her vision for a few days and I countered with another idea: What if those other images weren’t just images? What if we explored light and projections? What if we played with mixing media that wasn’t still? What if the media we mixed with was meaningful to her as a person?

This shoot challenged me in such a rewarding way and I’m excited about what we created together. I always stand by the idea that bo***ir is about the human in front of my camera — about representation of who they are, of their poetry. Her poetry wasn’t lace and lipstick — it was snowboarding videos and oversized ripped jeans and a love for stars. ✨ She’s magic and I think we captured some of that here.
