With their dating anniversary being on Valentine's Day, our couple decided to double down and make it their wedding anniversary as well. Their classic Richmond wedding styled in pinks and reds was perfect for celebrating their love story and holiday weekend. Congratulations again to Brigid & Jack - I mean, Mrs and Mr Brigid Godfrey 😂❤️

🧧 新年快乐 / happy (lunar) new year! 🎇
Thinking about incorporating Chinese attire into your wedding? Two popular brands for Chinese wedding attire are and .
For the fashion-forward bride looking something more contemporary, I also recommend . I've collected a couple pieces myself in my side quest for clothing by Asian American designers (my skirt in 1, dress in 2).
The knot buttons on the skirt in the first photo are hidden by my jacket unfortunately, but I like the nod to classic qipaos via the button style found in many pieces by SL. The second one, also by SL, is such a fun modern take on the qipao.
So many of the pieces by SL would be perfect for a welcome party or dance floor look, and they also have bridal qipaos. It's great for brides, family, and guests alike who want a nod to their Chinese heritage without the look of a traditional qipao.
And for lifestyle only, the third photo is a dress by , who's known for her colorful, contemporary designs. Shoutout to for helping me spot this dress while we were traveling for one of her wedding weekends ❤️

What a way to end the year! The vision: a Chinese-American wedding based in timeless black tie style and NYE glam ✨
Led by our bride's creativity, Mallory and Mary Pearl brought the vision to life beautifully. You'll see dual-palettes of black+white alongside red+gold and nods to Chinese culture. We leaned into creating a very non-conventional timeline to work around the early sunset, chilly weather, multiple locations, evening tea ceremony, and midnight countdown. I couldn't have asked for a better team to work with for this incredible celebration. Congratulations again to A&C! ❤️

Officially done with my fall wedding season!
Looking ahead to 2026 wedding planning? Swipe for some inspo featuring our beautiful Charlottesville mountains in early fall. September is great for later sunsets without the heat (or at least less heat). You can lean into summer or fall color palettes, though you can never go wrong with a classic neutral palette like this one, taken during a beautiful evening working with .
Or if you're still working on your venue search, comment 'venues' and I'll send you a list of my favorite Charlottesville Wedding venues 📩

For the lovers of adventure as much as relaxation - Costa Rica has it all. The famous Fortuna Waterfall hike took over 500 steps spanning a 1000+ ft descent and then climb back up. But it was worth it to get photos like this for Elyse and Cherokee's anniversary session. Plus it made our outing to the hot springs afterwards even more rewarding.
Fun fact - once hosted an episode of the Bachelor. It continues to be a beautiful location for getaways and weddings.
Swipe to see more of Upala, Fortuna and the Springs Resort. And if you're planning a Costa Rica elopement or wedding, please reach out! I would be happy to help celebrate with you in this beautiful country ❤️

Love wins again ❤️🏳️🌈
I still remember how sentimental Fenit was about his mom's role in the wedding. She stood by him when he came out, despite pressures from community and culture, so we wanted to make sure she was featured throughout the day. Cheers to another step towards making love is love our baseline.

A Jewish fusion wedding in lilac 💜 A fun fact that came up in multiple toasts is that Joelle's love of purple came from her childhood love of Barney - she even wore a Barney-themed backpack to Kintergarden. Mia and the florals team did such a beautiful job bringing this whimsical color palette to life with a touch of autumn 🍁
Some more of the ways the couple made their day their own with a mix of modern customs like first look and personal vows, the Black wedding tradition of jumping the broom, and Jewish traditions like the chuppah and Hora. Family and culture were definitely at the core of their celebration.
Congratulations again to Joelle and Kahlil! Swipe to see more from their beautiful fall Charlottesville wedding at Eastwood Winery.

Do we all agree that just one day of celebrating isn't enough? I love seeing the weekend and even week-long festivities couples are planning to enjoy more time with their guests. And here's why more coverage with your photographer is great, too:
-Enjoy portraits with a different vibe than the wedding day
-Get everyone comfortable in front of the camera
-Helpful for us to start recognizing family, wedding party and other VIPs
-For the memories all around, from sentimental toasts and everyone meeting for the first time to the fashion and details of the day

You're here because you want to connect with an awesome wedding photographer. You don't want just some stranger following you around with a camera, but a friend invested in capturing your story. Someone who understands that you're looking for more than beautiful images - because you deserve to have images that feel like you through genuine moments and portraits.
And that's exactly what I strive to take care of for my couples! I want you to enjoy peace of mind knowing that I'll be there to capture your wedding day in its entirety for you to relive again and again
Photographs have always been especially important in my family because we've lived in different places, continents apart. I was actually raised in China by my grandparents. My parents moved to the U.S. when I was 4 months old to attend college, so they watched me grow up through photos and phone calls.
It became flipped when I moved to the US to join my parents. Everyone I had known as family suddenly became memories, photographs, and phone calls. Staying in touch was a lot harder before the internet!
It was especially difficult when my grandfather passed away a few months before we were able to visit him again. However, I was thankful for the collection of photos we had of him. Although I didn't always love being in front of the camera growing up, I'm glad my family pushed for it anyways so we'd always have these memories of our people.
Weddings are my favorite place to create more of those images. From getting ready together to cultural traditions and just rocking out on the dance floor, there are so many opportunities to capture people as they are. That's why my philosophy with weddings goes beyond two. For you, for your people now, and for future generations - let's capture your story in its entirety!
