Sandhill Crane eating from a blackberry bush—look at how stained the beak is! We were just wandering through a prairie and stumbled across this crane, such a pleasant surprise.

Spotted this adorable Sedge Wren, but I heard it first.
I absolutely love their little tails and how they hold them when they’re singing—so precious.
This was also a lifer for me, yayy!

The sweetest family of Long-eared Owls from this previous winter 🥹

These communal raptors will form large social roosts during the winter, often coming back to the same spot yearly for shelter and food availability. In one stand of trees, there can be up to 100 owls living together!

Warning: super cute baby Tree Swallows !!!
Watched the parents flying around the lake and coming back to feed these babies for a solid hour. There was one point where a dragonfly was too big for the baby’s mouth, so the male swallow had to chew it down a bit and then come back around and re-attempt to feed the baby again (successfully!). We were surprised that four babies were able to fit in that tiny hole.

Tree Swallow (male) perched on a dead tree.
I have always had luck being able to get so close to this species — they have always been patient and friendly to me and my big lens being rather close to their personal birdy bubble.
