I created this image years ago by compositing various images of war re-enactors. Since then it's been a reminder every Memorial Day of how indebted we are to those who gave everything so we can have the freedoms that few other nations come close to.

Early morning in a ghost forest. Yesterday I participated in session to help create a new strategic plan to preserve the Pine Barrens at the . It was great to see the visions of environmentalists, outdoor enthusiasts, educators and more come together to keep this special place special.

This image of a lone cedar after a snowstorm was made not long before the start of Hanukkah. Yesterday's latest antisemitic and deadly acts in both Australia and California were dark marks on a holiday that should be celebrating joy, light and miracles. This lone cedar and bright little cloud are reflecting the beautiful late day light like the menorah candles on the first night of Hanukkah. May they stand to show that there is still light in this world. Take the time this season to go out in nature, breath the air and feel the peace that the natural world gives us.
