Suck Creek Photos

Suck Creek Photos Motorcycle, Jeep and vehicle photos taken primarily on Suck Creek Mountain near Chattanooga, TN (and sometimes Ocoee). Well, if you want to, that is. pass.

You can also follow Sam at on FB and IG. If you're on a motorcycle, bicycle, in a Jeep, a sporty car like a Camaro or Corvette, or in a Mini or Miata, I'll almost certainly be shooting you. To allow me to get your best shots, here's some tips:

Slow down! If you're on a motorcycle, you might want that extreme lean through the curves, and I realize that takes speed. But if you're in a

Jeep or a car or a big cruiser or whatever, if you're going a little slower, I can get more shots, and focus more accurately. Don't hesitate to turn around (safely) and make a second (or third, or fourth...) If I see you come right back by, I'll still shoot you. The more photos I shoot, the more likely you'll see something you like. If I'm not already pointing the camera at you, honk *before* you get to me, to give me a second to focus on you. I'm often looking down at the camera, or I may be looking the other direction. If you see me, but I don't see you, get my attention. Smile, wave, do something silly. That'll get my attention for sure. Feel free to show off - wave at the camera or whatever. Just do it safely. I have tools and a compressor and sometimes extra water in the Jeep. If you're having a mechanical problem, I might be able to help. Be safe! Please don't stop in the middle of the road if there's lots of traffic. And if you want to do a burnout or a wheelie, well, that's on you. :)

Keep this in mind if you're heading up the road over the next couple of days. Lots of hippies and stuff, you know. :)

Here's another rainy day art project! This is one of my favorite pics - the composition and timing were perfect. Like the others I've been noodling with, the colors of the print had faded significantly (this was taken in 1987), and it just didn't show Hawaii as it really is. The AI re-creation does, and it didn't require that much effort. This was my galpal (at the time), and she's diving at Halona Cove near Hanauma Bay - super dangerous spot because of the rocks and surf, and very difficult to get to in the first place. Perfect pic for a rainy Tuesday.

Have a great day, and be safe out there - Mother Nature is gonna make an appearance this afternoon.

Because of the weather, there's no recess today, so it's arts-n-crafts day. :) On the left is a photo I took on March 1 1988 of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Eagle sailing into Honolulu Harbor (which is why it has a lei on the bow). This was taken with a 35mm Canon film camera (a T70, I think). I digitally scanned it a few years ago, along with lots of other pics I have, but the print had already deteriorated quite a bit when scanned. So, I used ChatGPT to recreate it, and the result is probably better than the original. It's not perfect, but it's like I remember it nearly 40 years ago, with the bright blue sky and azure water. Another good use of AI, at least for me. Gotta preserve those memories, especially from the pre-digital age.

FYI, those are CG Academy cadets standing out on the yardarms. They are wearing safety harnesses/cables. This is common practice when making a port visit.

FYI #2, the small boat is a 82' USCG Patrol Boat shooting its water cannon; I believe it's the CGC Point Harris.

In March of 1989, I walked into Honolulu Ford with my head held high, and said *this* is the car I want to finance for the next 4 years. Behold, the mighty '89 Ford Es**rt GT in all its AI-enhanced glory! 110 horsepower, 5-speed, optional digital clock and those automatic seat belts that were constantly trying to strangle me. Picked this over the 25th Anniversary Mustang hatchback, which I have no excuse for.

If you've spent more than about 10 minutes with me, you've probably heard about the Trans Am I very nearly bought back in the 90s. Went to the dealership, test drove the thing, and *hated* it. Super disappointed. But they had this '95 Grand Prix GTP up on the mirrored spinny thing inside the showroom, and I bought it on the spot. Anyway, because this was 1995, I have very few photos of it, and none of them are good. So, this is another AI re-creation based on a crappy pic (in the comments below). Looks just like it!

Check this out - this is my first car, a 1970 Chevy Caprice. Only it's not; this is an AI-enhanced creation from a faded, worn out photo I took in about 1983. I've always regretted not having good pics of my old cars and motorcycles and guitars and stuff, but there was no digital photography back then, so it was off to the Photomat, and hope you didn't lose them. Finally, a good use for AI. :)

Check out the original photo in the comments. 👇

Next, my '95 Grand Prix. 😎
