It was my intention to pace the preceding 2102 and its train with my bike as well. Unfortunately, it was moving faster, and snuck up on me before I could prepare myself. As a consolation, I shot cellphone video of it passing me.

If you would have told me 20 years ago that I would pace an Alco 4-8-8-4 on my bicycle for well over a mile at my favorite rail-trail in the eastern US, I woulda called you crazy. Yet here we are.

This is a shortened clip off of my rack-mounted phone. The better video is on the new Insta360, but I have yet to teach myself the post-production software. I'm a bit pi**ed that the battery in my GoPro crapped out, even after charging it the night before. [UPDATE - The GoPro DID record after all!!!]

With the announcement of UP 4014 traversing the Lehigh River Gorge in June, I decided to make my hotel reservations for that weekend. But in order to get as far away from the masses as possible, I will be bicycling deep into the gorge to get my photos and videos. I dusted off my bicycle (which I haven't ridden in a few years), and with a few minor adjustments it will be ready for this task. This will be the first time that this bicycle will have been into the Gorge in 25 years. As celebration, I'm going to post several photos I took in this area while I was residing in nearby Allentown between 1999 to 2001.

This first round are photos of CP/D&H trains.
