Juvenile red-winged blackbird (the more visible one) being fed by a female. We were in the Smokies a couple years ago, and my lack of knowledge really showed up here. I thought the female was a sparrow of some kind. Of course, it's not. It is fun to learn new things.

This was taken in a field near Cherokee, North Carolina.

Wilder Brigade Monument in Chickamauga Battlefield, Georgia, USA. There is a spiral staircase inside that you can climb to see the view from the top. It is sometimes closed, though, because hornets and wasps like to build nests in there, and in the winter condensation can form and then freeze making the staircase a perilous feature. The tower is 85ft tall and build of limestone.

Two bull elk in a fight, or probably more of a test of strength than a true fight. This is the Great Smoky Mountains, North Carolina, just a little past Mingus Mill near Cherokee. FYI, I'm using a 600mm lens with my camera that auto-crops, so equal to 900mm. In other words, there's some distance.

Two bull elk fighting in a field by Highway 441 in the Great Smoky Mountains, North Carolina, roughly a mile past Oconaluftee Visitor Center.

All the good qualities of this photo are the action of the bulls and the bulls themselves. It's not sharply focused. But it was so much fun just taking the photo that I hope others will like seeing it.
