I had the pleasure of taking maternity photos for my beautiful cousin and her husband this past weekend! Her baby boy has been a dream in the making for 7+ years. They’ve walked a long and difficult journey to become parents. Countless prayers (from themselves and SO many others) and the blessings of modern medicine have brought them the “the little embryo that could.”

Three days after these photos were taken, their perfect son, Nolan, entered the world — about a month and half earlier than planned!!! 🎊🎉💕Nothing about their story is ordinary, but clearly it’s because he was destined to be extraordinary!!!!

Congratulations Lauren and Drew! I couldn’t be happier you! I can’t wait to watch our cousin crew grow up together!!

Currently editing this sweet Fresh 48 session of my friend Courtney and new baby boy! Ahhh he’s so squishy and perfect!! 😍😍😍

She delivered at the same hospital where Sydney was born, and I told Courtney how I got emotional walking in to the hospital’s labor and delivery wing. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to walk through there without all the happy emotions flooding back!

I’ve been a little unintentionally absent from posting on social media, and it’s actually been kind of great! I’m even considering a social media break in the new year because I think it would be so freeing, maybe a week and go from there?!? ⁣
⁣
I’ve still been photographing all the things! This week I shot a fresh 48 session for a sweet friend, 39 headshots, and this gorgeous family tonight! That’s combined with wrangling a spirited 2 year old and all that life brings our way! ⁣
⁣
I’ve promised myself that tonight’s would be the last session of the year, but I’ll be honest — it will be hard to keep that promise to myself because I really do love these winter sessions! It’s time to catch up on editing, sharing all these sessions, and blogging. But most importantly, it’s time to slow down a bit and enjoy Christmas and the new year with my family! ⁣

When I was a new mom, every outing felt a little scary and overwhelming. I was a slave to my baby’s sleep schedule (most days I still am😂), and I sometimes felt lonely from the isolation I’d put myself in. ⁣
⁣
This gorgeous mama of 4 lives in my neighborhood, but back then she was basically a stranger to me. I didn’t know much about her, but I just called her “super mom.” She can often be found in her yard playing with all her adorable littles, and she always stopped me on my neighborhood walks to talk. ⁣
⁣
She began inviting me to things - the library, play dates, gym classes, etc. It wasn’t that my other awesome neighbors hadn’t done the same in the past, but Jackie was particularly persistent. No matter how many excuses I made for why I couldn’t attend, she continued to ask. Eventually, I came out of my newborn induced fog and started taking her up on her offers.⁣

Sometimes it takes lots of nudges to finally get outside your comfort zone, and I’m so glad she didn’t give up on me. I’m also thankful to now call her a friend! She’s still a super mom to me, and I loved photographing her adorable family that I’ve grown to love last night! @ Pleasure House Natural Area
