I got to meet Julia and Mason over the weekend, and after so many emails back and forth planning their session, it was so nice to finally meet in person.

One thing that's going to stick with me for a long time, is the way Julia hummed through our session. I couldn't place it, and Julia said that it was just something that popped into her head, a random melody, not a song she knew. But to me, it sounded so much like Once Upon a Dream from Sleeping Beauty.

I've always thought of that song as a romantic love song. But standing there watching these two on the cusp of parenthood, I couldn't help thinking how beautiful it is as a song for a baby, too.

I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam
And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do

This moment for the Nunes family was a long time coming. There were so many dates, so many “just in case” plans because what if Christina had their baby girl before Brandon could make it home?

Military life isn’t for the faint of heart, especially during deployment season. It’s uncertainty. It’s waiting. It’s learning how to navigate life together while living it apart.

That kind of strength isn’t taught. You learn it on the fly. You live it.

Today I had the honor of photographing a commissioning ceremony for Ensign Scott Rampley, and the words of the guest speaker stayed with me long after my drive home.

Trust and sacrifice for military families is a way of life. It’s in the long deployments, the missed holidays, and the constant choosing of service, again and again. It’s the quiet strength behind every uniform.

Standing in that room, surrounded by the Rampley family’s village, you could feel it—love, pride, and trust woven into every moment. It was like sunshine, filling the room.

If you're a client of mine, and most of you are (except for my family, including my super fans that are in here, my Mema and my Gram lol) you know that I talk so much about my own children during our sessions. They are 13 and 15 now but to this day I talk about how I used to be able to fit their head in the palm of my hand. Or how I could fit their whole body perfectly from wrist to elbow. My boys have been measuring themselves against me their whole lives. "Mom! I come up to *here* on you now!" "Mom...I'm almost taller than you and I'm only 11!" ...yeah, that one hurt lol

I love having the opportunity to take photos like this one, or with your baby's hand wrapped around your finger. Because WE are their growth charts. And someday, you might be standing eye to eye with your child, just like I do with mine now, and how wonderful will it be to have a photo of the moment when you held part of your world in your hands? The feeling never goes away, but it's so nice to be able show them too.

I'm beyond grateful to each and everyone one of you for being here, for trusting me with your precious babies. And for listening to me talk about my own babies at our sessions. Even though they're now giant lol
