I have to take a moment for this stunning senior session. ✨️

And while I do let me explain why I've kept senior sessions around and why I LOVE them so much.  As a mama of "older kids" I can tell you that one day, you're going to miss the version of them that exists right now.  Like this one...the almost grown-up version of them. They've got their own music choices, and clothes, and opinions, and dreams.  Not to mention a personality that became completely their own while we were busy raising them. 🤷‍♀️

But that's why senior photography is so special!  It's not just about documenting graduation.  It's capturing another season of who they've become.

So yes, we'll take the beautiful portraits, but we will also go to spots that feel like them.  We'll bring the guitar, get in the old car, change outfits.  We'll laugh, and wander, and maybe even get a little weird!  LOL!

And from one mama to another... when you look back at these portraits years from now, I want you to see more than a beautiful senior... I want you to see exactly who they were... And maybe, just for a minute, remember exactly how it felt to be their mom right then too. 🤍

"A family's photograph album is generally about the extended family..." ~Susan Sontag

This session was gifted as a 70th birthday treasure to this lovely mom and grandma so saved these lovely captures for last. 🥹✨ I'll never tire of creating heirlooms for families. Watching them tear up at viewing day. And then sending them home with something that will be loved for generations.

As summer winds down I know the beachy sessions go with it and it's so bittersweet. 🥹☀ Here's another share of magic, connection, and an angelic sky from a very special portrait session to hold on to the feeling of summer! We've got a little over a month to enjoy what we have left and I hope this cutie post reminds you to do just that! I know we've been through a lot out here, but I have loved to see the stories in my feed of people who fled to the beach and found joy cooling off in it's waters and maybe for just a moment found some joy and peace by doing so. I should've joined them! Admittedly, I've had days that were mentally harder than I'd really like to admit. I was joking with some friends about how I could never be Amish and that I always think I'm a "simple" girl... but then the power goes out, and I realize I've been lying to myself. 🤥

I guess all of that to say, I hope you're all hanging in there & if you're feeling down know you're not alone... this too shall pass. 😘😘😘

"We never know the love of a parent until we become parents ourselves." ~ Henry Ward Beecher

I used to always take the Indiana Dunes and Lake Michigan for granted. That is until I started leaning into more sessions there, and was quickly taught how blessed I am to live here and photograph so many BEAUTIFUL families in it's backdrop of wonder! This profession has taught me many things, and most of them come with a sense of gratitude. The new people I meet... the ones who repeatedly choose to walk through my doors and become friends... the places I get to explore... and so much more! I'll be sharing more from this magical extended family session throughout the week because it truly was that.. magical! My hope as always is that it warms the hearts of all those that view it... it certainly did mine! ✨🥹

Hello beautiful people! Here's the current scoop. 😬

I'm wittling away at edits when I can! We were able to get a generator for our fridge and freezer from my nephew that I'm using to charge my computer as well with and I'm grateful for it. BUT with the way things are set up here I have to charge and edit and recharge. Oh and my editing software loves to drain my battery so it is what it is... but you know, so fun. 🙄 So far I'm mostly keeping on track, but with more storms headed this way we will see what happens. I may need a little patience in the near future before I get everything to everyone. Thank you in advance for your grace. I promise it will all be worth the wait. And most importantly stay safe out there! Thinking of you all and so beyond grateful to all that choose me to document the love you have for eachother and your families. Times like this remind me of how truly special life is and what a gift it is to be here and have another day with eachother... Hang in there. 🙏😘

Honestly, you guys, it's never just one thing! And I will say this... Images like this are ALWAYS my favorite because it absolutely feels like THEM! Notice nobody is looking at the camera. All just completely in the naturally unfolding moment.
