Today is World Oceans Day. Let's celebrate nature's gift to earth and to mankind. What a beautiful world we live in! I personally have an affinity to water. The waves of the sea are mesmerizing and calming as they come to shore.

Bring a little nature to your home or as a photo for your wall or a personal accessory with the image, "Waves of Cape Cod," found on my online art store.

The Chicago Blues Festival is in full swing. Tonight, Billy Branch will be featured in the final set alongside Sons of Blues with Kenny, Neal and Ronnie Baker Brooks. Here’s a clip of Billy Branch playing the harmonica at the Ramona Theatre on the first night of the Festival.

Billy Branch also performed on the first night at the Ramova Theatre, sharing the stage with blues great John primer. This evening promises to be a fantastic showcase at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millenium Park.

Sails and city lines meet in this view of a Chicago sailboat race. I worked to keep the palette simple, using sky blues, cool grays, and warm ochres so the movement stays clear and the small pops of cobalt and red draw the eye. The water and towers break into shapes that give the scene a steady, lively rhythm. Jonathan Powell at the Chicago Jazz Festival 2019 has a quiet intensity that draws me in. The flugelhorn player leans into a sustained note, eyes gently closed, while the instrument gleams with warm gold and flashes of purple and green against a dark background. For me, the close framing brings attention to the hands and the small choreography of making sound, which feels immediate. Here’s a view of the Chicago skyline at twilight I’m sharing today. Cool evening blues meet the steady line of shoreline lights, and taller buildings rise into a soft sky. I like that it feels both energized and calm, a moment when the city settles into evening but stays quietly alive. It would anchor a living area, office, or entryway with a subtle metropolitan presence. I put together a graphic of a blue petunia that leans on bold color and clean geometry. A small white star sits at the center while five cobalt petals open inside a dark pentagon, with scarlet, turquoise and lime accents that create a lively push and pull. The flat, crisp shapes keep the focus on color and rhythm, so it reads clearly from a distance and holds up under a closer look.
