When I happened upon these ferns at The Garfield Park Conservatory I immediately saw them in black and white, Ansel Adam?s photo of ferns popped into my mind. I took this one in homage to him.

Title: Interior

Macro of an ordinary pink rose in my kitchen. The shapes and shadows were so arresting to me that I wanted the viewer to feel drawn into the spiral's interior so intently that they might never even notice it is a flower.

Taken with OM System OM-1 MkII with M.Zuiko 60MM f/2.8 Macro at 1.5:1,1/100 sec, f8, ISO 200. Shot handheld, auto focus bracketed, with flash. Thirty shots, stacked in Helicon. Converted color to monochrome, used masking to shape the light, and split-toned for a selenium finish in Lightroom.

Downtown Chicago

A portrait I took during a recent portrait photo session I did in downtown Chicago. The sun light was starting to dim as early evening was beginning, and that subtle natural light mixed beautifully with the light from the street lamps which had just turned on.
Lit using available light only, and photographed using a Canon 5D MKIII with a Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II lens.
