Wild Lens Photography - Illinois

Wild Lens Photography - Illinois With early lockdowns during COVID I decided to learn some new hobbies to keep myself occupied.

I began taking pictures of insects, birds, and plants to learn how to identify them. I would post on social media about what I’d found, and several people told me I should look into learning photography. I had previously just been using my cell phone camera, but eventually, my husband bought me my first camera for our anniversary and I started experimenting immediately. I attended a few nature pho

tography workshops at the Morton Arboretum, and spent countless hours outside practicing. Today I specialize in nature photos from northeast Illinois (mostly Cook, Will, and Dupage Counties). I spend a lot of time at the arboretum, Chicago Botanic Garden, other local gardens, and numerous forest preserves trying to capture beautiful moments in nature to share with local residents and with those beyond the area that might be unaware of the natural beauty present in the Chicago area. My ultimate dream is to publish a book about pollinators of northern Illinois.
