Over the course of a dozen generations in Chicago, each of these buildings was designed and built independently from the other. It's taken over a hundred years for this photo to even be possible. Now some may not think that it rivals the Grand Canyon, but think about it. The Grand Canyon doesn't have elevators.

Clouds rolled in. Drove south of Phoenix, past humanity, to nowhere for the sunset. Pulled off the highway onto a dirt road for this. Then I had to find a car wash...

Sometimes, it's not what you're looking for, but what you find. By just turning a corner, I stumbled on the light in this rather unremarkable hallway in San Giorgio Maggiore on the Grand Canal in Venice. I had to wait an eternity for it to be empty (ok, maybe five minutes). Not one other person stopped to take a picture. Zero. Zip. Zilch. They were all rushing either to or from the famous campanile. It turned out to be one of my favorite pix of the 2019 trip to Italy. And Italy's got some pretty good-looking stuff.
