Did you ever wonder why I named my company "Maypole Studios"? It's because of May 1st, May Day!

🌸 Fun Facts About May Day & the Maypole 🌸
-May Day is one of the oldest spring celebrations in the world! It dates back thousands of years and celebrates warmer weather, flowers blooming, and new beginnings.
-Historically, May Day celebrated fertility, love, and new beginnings, which naturally tied it to courtship and marriage traditions.
-The maypole itself is often seen as a symbol of unity and partnership because of the weaving ribbons that intertwine together during the dance.
-In medieval Europe, May Day festivals were popular times for young couples to meet, dance, and begin romances. Villages often held celebrations that lasted all day with music, flowers, and feasts.
-Flower crowns — now popular in boho weddings and spring bridal portraits — were traditionally worn during May Day celebrations as symbols of beauty, fertility, and the season’s abundance.
-Many cultures believed that marriages celebrated in spring symbolized prosperity and growth, reflecting nature coming back to life after winter.
-The phrase “bringing in the May” referred to gathering flowers and greenery at sunrise — traditions that later influenced wedding florals and spring bridal customs.
-The colorful ribbon weaving of the maypole is sometimes interpreted as representing the weaving together of two lives, much like marriage itself.

1st looks… wedding days are FULL of them! Most are with people (i.e. the bride and her father, and the couple’s first look), but after countless hours of work and planning your vendors are REALLY excited for your 1st look with your ROOM! Decor is finished, candles are lit, food is prepped, bar is stocked, everything is in place and READY. TO. GO. That vision board has been made a reality and it’s time to celebrate. I think you can tell by the faces on these two that the room reveal did NOT disappoint, every planners #1 goal. Nikki and Taulant chose an incredible team to bring this all together, a big round of applause to HBIC Weddings, FlowerChild Floral, Cocina Fusion, Greenhouse Loft, Style Matters DJs, and Pin Me Up Chicago.

Chinatown. Cocktails. Cool People. Yep, this one deserves as many slides as IG will give me.
“Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” Hmm, gonna call bullsh*t on this one. BUT Luckily I DO do what I love, in places that I love, with people that I love. And there is a whole lotta work involved, sometimes in the wee small hours, for days on end. The biggest catch is that the busier I am, the less time I have to share what I am doing. And the less I share, the more people may think I am not busy. Such a conundrum! So here’s #381 in the cue of projects to post and share with the masses, this one jumps to the front because they are getting married this Saturday and I am SO. DANG. EXCITED. These two amazing humans are proof that word of mouth referrals are 100% where it’s at, no need for a $$ advertising bill. I’ll be walking into a room of familiar faces, hugging at least a dozen people, and that’s my version of success. And I f*cking LOVE that sh*t! (Sorry mom 🤷🏻‍♀️🤪)
