***TODAY*** Chicago Fire Department Working Fire - 816 North Keeler Avenue

Engine Company 117 arrived at the above address at 1021 hrs. Within two minutes, this fire would be out. That’s what the speed and efficiency of great fire companies gets you. It was reported that there may have been people trapped but that proved to be false. One fire fighter transported from the scene in green condition. Wash down, overhaul, rehab, and RTQ all in a days work.

Good Sunday evening everyone. There have been several incidents that I have not posted and am sharing here tonight. Just a bunch of photos from several unposted fires. I always try to capture the job and the people who do it in the best light but remember, if you do not want a photo posted, send me a message and I’ll take them down. I started this page to share my work with the members and their families because that’s really what this page is all about.

***TODAY*** Chicago Fire Department Still & Box Alarm - 5914 West Race Avenue

This morning, we went out west all the way from 55th and Racine. The commute took 45 minutes and I arrived just as companies were being removed from the structure. The home was a large 30x60, 2.5-story frame with fire originating on the two. Companies worked interior for over a half hour before going defensive due to extensive fire progression in the attic space. Tower Ladder 14 along with one exterior line knocked down what was left of the fire in the attic before companies went back in to mop up.

***TODAY*** Chicago Fire Department Still & Box Alarm - 1320 West 73rd Street

This came in at 0915. Fire in a vacant 1.5-story frame. I walked up just after the incident was boxed. Missed some good roof work shots by about two minutes. The decision was eventually made to go defensive and set up the tower. Sadly, there was some slight extension to the “B” side exposure that was quickly contained. The heat and humidity has returned to Chicago.

***TODAY*** Chicago Fire Department Working Fire - 7251 South Yale Avenue

Caught a quick working fire this morning. It was mostly a fully involved alley garage that communicated a little to the back porches. Engine Company 122 went to work on the garage while other companies forced entry and waited for the arrival of the safety chief.

For those just waking up, the new Truck 36 is DOA. It’s the eternal parade of spares for the foreseeable future. They were struck during an expressway response on the Ike at California. Members were reported to be ok.

***TODAY*** Chicago Fire Department Still & Box Alarm - 5604 West Division Street

A fire unfortunately struck Jay’s Backyard Barbeque in Chicago’s Austin community at 0624 this morning. An interior push was made for ten minutes before it was determined it would be best to go defensive with fire throughout the cockloft. Most of the fire was contained to the restaurant but businesses on both sides had extensive damage.

***SUNDAY*** Chicago Fire Department Working Fire - 5122 South Union Avenue

Engine Company 50 reported a working fire in the rear at 1559. Fire was blowing out of windows on both the “B” and “D” sides in the rear with fire communicating to the window frame of the “D” side exposure. The rear door was heavily barricaded, delaying entrance from side “C”. One exterior line was brought around to protect the exposure while companies made entry through side “A”. There was slight fire extension to the second floor but overall a quick stop with minimal fire damage to the exposure.
