Jennifer walked in not fully knowing what to expect. She walked out saying, “I am pretty sexy. I’m a very good looking lady.” That shift.. from unsure to certain.. is everything we do this for.

Jennifer is the founder of And Rise, an organization providing free mental health support to trauma and abuse survivors in Chicago. She spends her days helping women heal.

This time, we got to help her see herself.

"When I lost my husband, everything about me changed."

Ann lost her husband in July 2021. And with him, she lost the version of herself she thought she'd always be.

She didn't know if she'd feel joy again.
She didn't know if she could be strong again.

So she started a journey.. not to become someone new, but to find out who she still was underneath all of it.

This session wasn't about a photoshoot. It was about doing something for herself. Feeling beautiful. Feeling powerful. Proving to herself that she could still feel amazing, even after everything.

If you're a widow reading this.. if you've wondered whether you'll ever feel like yourself again.. Ann wants you to know: you will. It doesn't erase what you lost. But joy can exist again, right alongside the grief.

Client Spotlight — Ann

“When I lost the we, the me was then different.”

Ann came to us as a widow, carrying a kind of loss that changes everything.. including how you see yourself. She never thought she could feel joy again. She never thought she could feel strong again.

So she decided to do something entirely for herself.

From the moment she walked in, she felt supported, safe, and warm.. she said it felt like hanging out with friends she’d known forever. An all-day experience that felt comfortable and natural, start to finish.
