CARRYING YOU

I carried you.
In a heartbeat you were one too.
The beat of mine,
The first song I sung to you.
Through pain and a force like no other I carried you into this world.
My skin and smell, your first intuition.
Breathing beside you, as you breathed life into me.
With tired bones and heavy eyes,
I carried you.
With my sore body and full heart,
I carried you.
With an aching love,
Our hearts whispering to each other as you fell asleep.
Though I will cry, and you will too.
We’ll continue to sail along,
Lead by you.
With this, I promise,
to always carry you.
What a privilege to be loved like this.
The sleep will come.
The shore will come.
So I understand if you want to be here.
With one breath at a time.

For as long as you need.

It's International Day of the ! We're grateful to all the midwives out there, we know this is tough work and today we honor and celebrate you!! I want to take a moment to honor this incredible woman that I had the honor of photographing last week at the most beautiful afternoon home birth. 🥰 The amount of love and care that Jessica Ebsworth Steffens gave to Abigail Wood was above and beyond! You know the phrase "It takes a village..." well it seriously does! The depths of labor can get rough and you may feel like you want to turn back but when you have a trustworthy and supportive team at your side the journey doesn't feel so challenging. 😍 It was so beautiful to capture you and the loving care you provided for Abby on an emotional and spiritual level as she brought sweet Viv earth-side.
