The Out Of Chicago Photography Conference hit me pretty hard. I left these main thoughts:

Be thoughtful before I press the shutter.
Get more intimate with my subject.
Make a project.

The conference impressed upon me just how far I have to go. But this weekend, I don't know what I will do. It's independence day weekend, I'll shoot through it anyway.

When I'm in Chicago shooting the streets, two things that are hard for me to ignore are long strong shadows and couples interacting with each other. This couple was about two blocks away from the Chicago River and they were headed to the train station. There aren't many "hills" in Chicago, but this is one of them. :-)

I love the couple in the background. They were in the perfect spot as the environment aligned with them as they met and hugged. I was too willing to sit there and watch as all the other couples moved on with life.

A Band of Friends

I like the shadows these men cast. I also like the feeling of four people walking together. To me there was a clear togetherness here.

For the next week I will try to make an effort to push out some street photography. I hope you enjoy.

This image is about having a deadline. You're not late, but it's close. Everything is fine, just get there on time! I love the shadow, her walking step, even the quick glance to the phone tells me she's checking her arrival.
