I was lucky enough to have several small weddings with this winter.

A) it brought along some SWEET couples and adorable elopements
B) padded that bank account to be able to get everything we needed & had wanted to get, but weren’t sure we could pull off. (Aka: bunk bed extra back up car seat, vacation this summer, everything on the registry that wasn’t gifted)
And C) reminded me that weddings are about the love. Not the vibes, not the aesthetic, not the connection I as a vendor have with the couples. All the weddings: I got their names, timeline and shot list the week of. And by the end of the day whether 1 hour or 4 hours later, fell in love with this couple I’ve barely met and the people they wanted around them for their wedding.

By detaching a bit by the weddings not being ‘mine’ it reminded me how much I LOVE weddings and want to prioritize the experience I give couples vs having a fully booked calendar.

I can take on 1 or 2 more weddings this fall & winter, and have books open for a select few in 2027 🫶🏻

Yesterday I tuned 27.

And I know aging is something a lot of people really dread, but I really don’t. I love celebrating another year of living, loving and being loved.

All of being 26 was either dreaming about our second child, or growing our second girlie pop.

There was a lot of time with family, and a lot of friends having babies and showing up differently than usual.

A TON of giggles, not as many tears this year.

It just felt like a lot fell into place. I let go of some weird expectations I had on myself and life, grew in being gracious and just trusting that God has and always will provide and take care of our family.

Here’s to what 27 holds 🤍🤍

I think about that a lot. Because that’s exactly it. We spend so much time looking in the mirror — critical, rushed, picking ourselves apart.

These photos give you something different. A still moment. The version of you that exists when someone’s really looking.

My camera roll was once FILLED with sessions & id have to dig for any photos of my own life and family.

Lately, I have to scroll back a year or download the images I want to share for the day. And WOW it’s an incredible feeling.

The life/work balance is going to be a lot different when I’m back to work after the summer, a lot better ex*****on & intention when it comes to work so I can be fully present with my girls and enjoy every second with them vs worried about deadlines and if I got back to whoever’s emails.

Fun fact: everything you see on my feed is real people & sessions.

If I do any ‘styled sessions’ it’s still very much so in alignment with what the family or couple has in mind. It’s a collaboration, not a perfectly curated & styled photoshoot.

In a world where we want absolute perfection: we do perfection in each persons perfect way over here 🫶🏻

I’ve never ONCE had someone tell me they don’t need any help with posing or feeling comfortable in front of the camera. Never. One. Time. Ever.

So here’s a few simple & go to poses!

1) A classic cozy on the couch, snuggle in the sun, close at the bar, or power couple portrait. Wherever the vibes of the couple take me is where we go.

2) Good Ole walking and talking. Always a fan favorite. I start with these most of the time and end them in a traditional smiling at the camera pose because you’re a bit more comfortable and natural after some movement and giggle.

3) Again with the Classic portrait! Just another way to get it done.

4) Movement into a stagnant pose. Have one of the couple standing still leaning on something, and the other come up into an embrace. I have silly prompts for whichever gender is walking up to the other, but it just feels more natural and easy this way.

5) Leaning or sitting on something and snuggled up. This place had some people sleeping on the land scraping, open beers, and overall odd vibes around us, but we found a gorgeous corner and they snuggled together for the sweetest pics 🥹

Everyone is different, every session has a different tone and energy and we heavily lean into that shift here! While there’s always some ‘basic’ poses we get, we let the setting, outfits, and energy of the couple dictate which way we lean into for photos.
