Omg, be sure to check this out!!
If you saw my recent post about photographing Ella perform at an Summer Concert Series, you might remember I said to stay tuned for a fun follow-up interview we did on Zoom…
I first met and photographed Ella as a one-year-old in the fall of 2006 when I opened jookie. Then at the intermission of her summer concert, when I went up to her to say hi, she didn’t quite recognize me until I said “I’m Jill from jookie.”Then she immediately knew who I was.
I was so struck by how thoughtful, calm, and confident she is at this young adult age, and I’m delighted to share our edited interview here with you all.
My favorite part of our interview was when she talked about her songwriting process and how she thinks of her discography, which made me think about how she is metaphorically a part of the jookie discography. And while she didn’t remember the sessions themselves when she was so little as her memory wasn’t fully formed yet, she is solidly a part of jookie’s beginning.
What these kiddos don’t realize is how much I still “follow” what they are up to from what their parents share about them over the years, whether on social media or running into them around the city. (I even ran into a jookie parent at jury duty once.) They don’t know how much of a FAN I truly am of them!
This interview series will hopefully remedy that. I want any jookie kiddo that comes through here to know they are special then and always special even 20 years on.
(A very special thank you to , the brilliant editor of this video! Sophie is our summer marketing intern, and jookie is excited to have her on the team!)
