I’ve been trying to do more woodland photography lately. I typically stick doing landscapes where I’m on an edge in the peak district overlooking a valley. But this photo was from an impromptu visit to a famous woodland and I started enjoying the search for a subject and how to balance the foreground with the busy backgrounds. a misty morning at one of my favourite places in the peak district. it’s not typically the spot known for cloud inversions as it isn’t quite as dramatic as some of the other edges in the peaks, but it’s probably my favourite for how quite it is and how you can see the clouds rolling over the hills.

autumn is finally here. my favourite season because of the colours and the normal hours for sunrise and sunsets, not to mention to sun being low enough into the late morning to capture sun stars like this. this photo was difficult to expose correctly because of the bright sun, the bright blue sky and the dark shadows in the trees. to balance the exposure as much as possible, I took this photo slightly underexposed and raise the shadows in the edit.
